The odds of winning are slightly better than 1 in 300 (5 prizes for about 1440 members with 5 or more posts). Good luck everyone!

But of those 1440 members, a lot of them simply used spam posts to get up to five, then will not contribute to the rest of the forums... That makes the odds even better than the 1:300 you said.

The odds of it going to people who posted 5 times (or maybe a few more) and didn't make that meaningful of a contribution are unfortunatley pretty high. Definitely the last time they did something similar it went to people whose usernames I didn't recognize, only that time it took quite a while because they wanted a certain number of people with 5 posts before they gave out anything so I suppose it's possible the people had made a brief contribution that was more meaningful than 5 posts but that didn't last long. Sure some of the people with exactly 5 posts have posts that could be discarded as not meaningful (i.e. a post whose content consists of "does this count for the contest?"). But where do you draw the line? Given that they don't actually say anything about it in the official contest rules, I really don't expect them to be overly critical of the quality of posts, and feel that they basically want to exclude spam (buy v!agrA!), people posting completely useless posts ("this is my first post" reply "this is my 2nd post", etc), and posts that are so offensive that they get deleted (for which it seems like you have to go way over the top). I don't really expect them to look at whether the post actually was a meaningful contribution - for example, lots of posts consist of people asking questions that have been asked and answered several times already, where the question on it's own is a meaningful contribution but combined with the others it's not really, and that's where many of the people with 5 posts fall.

has anyone won yet? could it just be a big plan for them to increase activity in the forum, and no one actually wins?

haha I hope they'll find my "legitimate posts" cuz I have made at least 30. The problem is, these are bogged down by MANY useless ones lol

It is true. I only made 7 (* with this one) and everyone except for this one is purposeful (advertising and informing people about the Youth Government and Youth Parliament of Canada) <--- if you are interested I put contact info for me on the thread titled "Youth Parliament of Canada"

I won't lie, when I joined my intent was just to make five posts. Not spam of course, I actually found things I had opinions on and posted meaningful stuff.
However, I kind of like this place, so I'll stay awhile.
