How hard do you try to make good grades?

I don't do 8 hours of homework a day, but I'd say I work fairly hard. I do all my stuff on time and review a couple days in advance for tests.

I never tried in high school, literally did assignments the night before, and still managed to get a 78% overall average in grade 12, all U & M level courses. I went back for a fifth year to take a new subject to boost my average, and play football, and actually somewhat tried, and was able to boost my average to 82% AND be recruited by universities for football. The hardest I tried was in Calc, & I only got a 66%(the mark I needed to change), everything else was pretty much around 80. In no way do I recommend these study habits lol, I know I will most likely need to develop new study habits for university. Hopefully I can.

I try quite a bit. Its hard though because at my school there is only one Chem teacher and he is SO bad! So if anyone in his class gets an A, its a miracle. Thats my only area of concern is in Chem...other than that I do fairly well.

I don't overdo it... I have about a 99 right now in pure mathematics 20, 95 in chem 20, 93 in english 20-1 (all grade 11 Alberta courses).
I have a spare and I study math and chemistry during that usually, and at home I do about 1-2 hours of homework a night. I balance this with field hockey, a part time job, violin, and a few other ECs.

I don't study as much as I should, but I still make time to complete all of my assignments. The best thing I do is listen carefully in class and take notes, and get into the material. Tests and exams are easy that way too.

yea, i also find that once you pay attention to the class when things are being taught, that it requires you to work less on your own tryin to get a clear understanding of the topic. everyone stresses out when they hear the word test or exam, but it's not that difficult if you pay attention at the right times.

I have terrible habits, don't work much, don't go to class, suck at studying. I don't think it will improve either.

I don't really study, and i've never needed to, save for in Math. Aside from Math courses school has always been pretty easy for me. I figure that University will require study habits though, and I should probably develop some.

Right now my study habits are pretty bad. I study for tests and do assignments the night before and I don't usually do homework.

I do my best. Homework every night, Study a few nights before a test, attend every class, start all assignments early and give them 110% I have to be doing something right. 92.7 average first semester. Advanced Functions however....

I do homework twice a week once on Wednesday and once on the weekend. I study and review concepts everyday.

i try to get through all my work each night. With a test every other day or so some weeks, it is easy to put off doing worksheets and i fall behind in the class. This is my worst habit. Usually i do whats necessary not much more and no less. Only its hard to determine whats neccessary sometimes.
Although i do have to admit advacned functions homework is way more fun than calculus due to its extreme simplicity.
ive managed a high 80 avg throughout highschool, but having spares + the improtance of gr.12 has bumped up my avg to 92

I am so impressed by some of you guys hahaha. In high school I did the bare minimum, and looking back I totally would have skipped classes. In university, I only have ten classes a week (two of which are every other week, keep in mind I am taking four courses instead of five) and I would say I go to MAYBE 80% of them. I study for exams the day before (some of them worth 50%). I need a course to knock me on my bum before I change any of my habits.

Our pure math probably isn't the same as what your idea of pure math is. We have three different levels of math pure, applied, and 14/24 If you're going on to post secondary you usually take pure, if you don't do so great you take applied and if you're a complete idiot you end up in 14/24. The bare minimum to graduate.

I never study nearly as hard as I should. I'm also a big procrastinator..last year I didnt study for any of my exams until the morning of, which clearly reflected in my marks. Hopefully my study habits will improve by the time I enter University!

I will admit that I am definitely a bit of a procrastinator. Aside from taking advanced History and English, a lot of my classes this year are fairly slack to me as I am not taking any Maths or Sciences. That definitely takes my workload down a notch and makes it easier to spend more time on extra-curricular stuff, which usually keeps me at school until suppertime. When I have to do an essay or a presentation, I always find myself leaving the bulk of the work until the night before the deadline, and I'm not sure how that's going to work out for me in University. lol. Especially since I will be taking Arts/Journalism, hence lots of essays and deadlines.
As for studying, for most tests I will study the night before. For exams, it depends on the course. For my slack classes, I review the night before. For something like History, I start a few days in advance as there is a lot to cover. When I used to take Math, I would usually start review for exams about a week before the actual exam.

But really, Pure Math 20 IMO is by far the easiest course I have like ever taken, way easier than Pure 10 (for some odd reason). "You have enemies? Good.
