And no i'm not saying they'll be blacklisted what i'm saying is that by not doing something at all/ever you don't know if you like it or if its "bad", sort of a green eggs and ham thing i guess Oh yea and another oct birthday I'm the 24th

But you can know if you'll like it or not without trying it. And it is quite common for people to go their entire lives without trying things.

So.. what kind of activites does frosh entail exactly? I get the gist of frosh but don't actually know what kind of things happen. Except for at Mcgill where frosh week involves bar hopping and being drunk the whole time. Haha.

Our Frosh week was awesome and actually pretty dry, except for one night. Like someone above said, there's a lot of dumb "ice breaker" activities, but there were a lot of things that I enjoyed. Comedy show, casino night, wacky tacky boat cruise, Mod Club, Government, Koolhaus, concert, soccer tourney, carnival and the U of T parade come to mind.
My friends and I are going to apply to be frosh leaders so we can experience it again.

What academic relation does frosh week have to getting good grades and graduating university? It's nothing more than a morale booster for those who are upset to be away from home, and a cheap opportunity for guys and girls to get around their res. floors under the influence of alcohol. Do they have anything academically-related during frosh week?

What? Does everything have to be academic related? What's wrong with boosting the morale of those who are upset to be away from home? What's wrong with having some fun? Why do you make it seem like it's something terrible to enjoy yourself and get to know people?

Why do you make it seem like it's something terrible to enjoy yourself and get to know people? +1 I'm not even a terribly social person, but if the benefit of university is solely to get an academic education, I don't think I'll enjoy myself as much as I anticipate. Most teenagers need to learn the consequences of their actions outside of a textbook, and the only way to do that is to make a couple mistakes. I know I'd rather figure it all out in university than when I'm in my 30's and 40's and trying to cope with a family, job, etc.

Why do you make it seem like it's something terrible to enjoy yourself and get to know people? Agreed. I'm so sick and tired of these uppity lame-ass people who insist that their university education is nothing more than something to get in and get out into the 'real world'. What happened to having fun? To having a social life? Clearly none of these things are important? I would argue that they are MUCH more important than any education or career you will ever have.

Why do you make it seem like it's something terrible to enjoy yourself and get to know people? Nothing is wrong with getting to know people or having fun, I just have no clue why the university wastes money on it. You're there to go to school. Making friends in your classes is going to come automatically just by being there with them and corresponding with them. Why does the university need to sponsor events that often turn to house parties with drunk idiots? Carleton University Bachelor of Arts in Law

If you don't like it then don't go... you'll probably be sorry later but if you're that repulsed by it then just don't participate.... its as simple as that

But do they know who you are for the right reasons? If this forum is an indication of your behavior in real life, I would honestly think that a significant portion of your class think "Great, that guy...." when you raise your hand in class.

All of my lectures are 200-500 students, save for one seminar which has 25 students, so we don't raise our hands I get your point though. People know who I am because I am active in participating with other students and helping through our online message boards. Carleton University Bachelor of Arts in Law
