man, i guess i should have expected this from the student awards forum, but sersiouly some of you are so uptight. Have an open mind, it's not gonna kill you if you have a drink or two at party. Also, you will be able to live without it and still have a good time. To each his own. I already have my job contract in hand for when I graduate next year, so I am planning on having a blast this year. If that means I kill a few brain cells along the way, so be it!

Every christmas there are many christmas parties, and while everybody is drinking and some are getting drunk, I would say it's quite a classy event.

Why does alcohol need to be involved for you to have a good time? If you're there to enjoy your friends, what's the problem in serving water and juice?

Who said there has to be alcohol? Frosh does not have to involve alcohol. There are a LOT of muslims and people of other religions at frosh where they are obviously not allowed to drink and many don't and still end up having a TON of fun!

The point of F!rosh Week is to get to know your university, meet the people in your program (who will either become your boss one day or will provide you with tons of good opportunities employment wise once you graduate), and enjoy your 4 years in university, because it is the last 4 years where you truly have independence.

Don't go to Frosh to drink or party, go home after 7 or 8 p.m. ... go to everything else though, it's a lot of fun

I'd think it's something more like 'It is the last 4 years before you have true independance.'

There's nothing wrong with drinking and partying, as long as you do it in moderation.... most nights....
Really though, it's more dangerous when ppl don't know how much they can drink, and they end up having waaaay too much and ending up in a hospital, which they could've avoided if they knew what being drunk was supposed to be like. It's not exactly addictive either, and as long as you aren't one of those kids that use the excuse, "I was drunk" to do anything and be a total bleep bag, u'll be fine.

I think it depends on my mood if I'm sober at a party whether I will be irritated or amused.

Gosh, has anyone noticed the increase in jerks from the new members population (as in, the whereabouts of 50 posts or under)? I remember when I was new, I tried to be as nice as possible.....

I guess now that summer is on, the nerdy ego kids are all bored from a lack of homework.

The internet makes it so much easier to be a jerk.
And then get away with it.
Oh internet.
pale

But this place is so much better than some of the other forums I've seen,
so I guess not all is fair in love and war lol.

i'm sorry I don't take internet forums seriously. I'll try to be nicer in the future, in case you were calling me a jerk.

Wow. Honestly, this forum has an uncanny to turn threads to poop on a whim ~ the more confrotational members (most of them have several hundred posts here) seem to be inspired to start arguments over nothing; I actually haven't read a thread without one. Constructive or not ... what gives?

Everyone here comes from a different background with some good and some bad experiences. Debates and arguments are a good thing when they're collected and provide a different perspective on the issue.
