I've heard some pretty crazy stories about people trying to sneak in animals into their dorm rooms. I know it's against rez policy, but it still seems like an entertaining idea. What animal do you think you could hide? How?
I'd say a swordfish would probably be the easiest (and the least exciting) to manage to keep.

Swordfish? Hilarious! I think a kitten would be fairly easy to hide and I'm hoping to keep one for as long as possible next year. I know someone who successfully kept one under wraps for a month, which is pretty good! I'll be sharing a bathroom with my fellow building rep next year so I was thinking we could put the litterbox and food and water dishes in there. It wouldn't be too hard. Our rooms will be joined to the C.A's though so we'll have to be extra stealth 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... If you are going to try you sure as heck better have someone lined up who can take care of it. Even if you do have someone lined up, it's not nice to the kitten to keep them in a situation where you are pretty sure eventually you will have to give it to someone else. Also in a traditional style rez, I think it would be pretty cruel to keep a cat in that small of a room. I also assume the first poster really meant goldfish or something and not really a Swordfish as the latter grows to be, well, longer than the average human is tall and much heavier ;) I had a friend who had fish. I don't know if they were strictly legit or not, but.. its fish. They swim around in a tank Someone was telling me once about a guy on his floor who had a hamster and the RA knew about it and was cool with it, but again, you'd have to know the RA. And again, you'd have to have a plan in the event of a crackdown.

There was news on our campus of a guy was keeping a garden snake in his room for a while, untill people started to complain and said that they were scared etc when ever he walked down the hall. So he had to get rid of it.

one of my friends, like an idiot, got a hamster and it died in less than a week due to numerous reasons such as letting it run around in the room (in a hamster ball) alone for several hours at a time

about the cat thing, fist of all good luck with that, and that means that you cant leave your door opened, which is quite annoying, its pretty common to jsut have your door opened most of the time. and i know some one how has a hampster and they ahve actually had it for a couple months, i think that fish would work too.

depending on the rules of your res/university, fish are probably the only 'pet' you'd be allowed. our floor was quite social and chatty, so trying to keep anything under wraps (for example, hiding a furry animal) would be near impossible!

I know someone who kept a hampster (or something like it) for a whole semester. Also, fish are common. Why not try a pet rock? Chia Pet? Tamagochi????

some residences allow fish and things like fish in your res. i think a pretty common thing i have seen is those plants with the beta fish under them... you never have to feed it because it feeds off the plant? know what im talking about? haha yea.. im sure that would be harmless...
i want to try and go for a newt or salamander! they just live in regular fish tanks and they cant really get out or harm anyone. im sure that would work...
the swordfish seems pretty wikkid as well i must say!

I don't think cats need that much space... all they do is jump on ur bed, sleep, lick them self, jump off, pee, eat, rinse and repeat. If my family let me I'd bring my cats for sureeee. They want them tho ... ima miss em rofl

Most universities across Canada have a closed door policy in residences in accordance with fire regulations. My school only allows fish in residence and I definitely have a place for the cat if I don't make it the 8 months next year. My room next year is twice the size of my single this year so the cat will have lots of room to run around My room will be joined to the C.A's next year so we'll have a good relationship and hopefully she'll be cool with it. My organization and the residence staff work together a lot so I won't be a regular student that she'll have to police. We'll see though. Also any future Mac people can definitely come visit and play with the kitty 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... Seamonkeys are entertaining. Statistically speaking, for every two I try to pet, 0.5 of them die (yes, one of them end up half-dead).
