i suggest reading jhumpa lahiri's "interpreters of maladies" if you are really into that whole indo-fusion vibe. its a compilation of short stories. she writes effortorlessy, yet her words leave a lasting impression. one of my all time faves!
also, read "a prayer for owen meany" by john irving. a bit dull at first, but it is so good once you break down the themes & symbols, like we had to do for english class. once u read it, i suggest u sparknotes it to get actually understand the entire meaning behind the novel.

My favourite novels would have to be... The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova because I love anything to do with vampires and this novel is such a great historical perspective of the Dracula story. Susan Kay's books: Phantom (which is a must read for any POTO fan) and Legacy (which is a really well researched novel about Queen Elizabeth), the Dante Valentine series by Lilith Saintcrow (demons, necromances - what's not to love?), the Kushiel series by Jacqueline Carey (historical fantasy, adventure, erotica - loved it!) anything by Patricia Briggs and Anne Bishop Alias Grace and The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood anything by Christopher Moore (some of the most random, intelligent and hilarious books around) The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir and of course I cannot forget anything by Poe and Baudelaire (poetry included of course) this list could go on and on, but I think I'll stop here

My English teacher made my class do a Jane Austen tea dance, which was a tad fun, since we got to dress up and bake all these cakes, and we acted out scenes from Emma. But she also invited this strange cult called "the Jane Austen Society." But after reading Emma, I've sworn not to read any more Austen books.

oh, and I love Gone with the Wind and the Kiterunner because I love dramatic books. I also like "Freakonomics," despite all its controversy. It talks about stuff like, "20 Whitest Girl Names" and "Top 20 Names of Children from Middle Income Families."
