So its my birthday on monday!
I'm finally legal.

The flames play on sunday and I want to go to the Red Mile on sunday night then go to the bars at 1200. When I legally am 18.
I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to do this?
I mean it makes sense that I should be allowed to go to the bars seeing as I am 18 but i don't know.. bouncers are dicks sometimes.

....the drinking age is 19 you're not legal quite yet.

I doubt if you'll be able to get into bars.

I'm seventeen. so, does that make me....illegal? lol

and yeah if you're at the right age (even if it's just been for a minute) they should let you in, as far as i know. just bring more than one copy of ID.

besides, i'm pretty sure they're used to having just-legals coming in on their birthday, since it's a sort of rite of passage in some ways.

Yes you will be able to get in after 12AM.

Predrink it up though, if last call is 2AM like here.

Oh, to answer the question at hand, I know plenty of people who went to the bar at midnight on their birthdays in NS. I didn't, in part due to the fact that I had an exam the day of my birthday and the next day or something razz

On a related note, did you know that you can legally drink alcohol before you are 18? Now some of you may know, but I did not know that it is perfectly legal to drink in one's house if the parents allow it. Until recently I thought that no alcohol is allowed under any circumstances until you reach the legal drinking age.
Similarily, sex is allowed at a ridiculous low age (maybe 14?- I don't remember exactly) as long as it is not with a person of authority. How much have I missed... albino naughty

Yeah, you're allowed to drink in your parent's house so long as they are the ones providing you with alcohol.

And yep, the age of majority is 14, although I'd question why your trying to get with a 14 year old if your 17 or older. *cringe* You do need to be 18 to consent to anal intercourse though LOL (doesn't apply to Ontario or Quebec though)

What I don't get is Ontario's messed up law on tobacco. Your allowed to smoke at the age of 16 but can't purchase cigarettes until your 19, and supplying someone under 19 with a smoke is an offence. This make sense to anyone else?

It's not 2AM here. Especially during flames playoffs.
Parties last all night. Its ridiculous.
Never fear though. I'll be drunk from pretty much 5
this afternoon on.

I had a friend who's 19th was on a Sunday.
She went to the bars Sat night, and even though it was before 12 midnight, they let her in.
I'm sure every bar would do this, so you never know.

Arghhh I'm not legal till October 2009... HAHA geez.

I have friends that have gotten into red mile bars with a fake.... do you have a fake?

Guess I'm stuck drinking at friends houses for the next year and a half (the rents won't let me drink in my house, whatevs). Though my friend got a really good fake Alberta driver's license from some guy... I might get one off him. I think I look 18. smile

I had a friend who happened to be near a casino the evening before his birthday (he would be 19)
and even though it was a few hours before midnight and 18 is the legal gambling age he still was not allowed in..... it just depends on where you are I guess
