Yeah, the scholar's elective students live on a floor in elgin. This year it was the First floor on the East side I think. And actually, I double checked the average thing. You get a guarenteed single room for second year if you enter first year with an average above 90. If you're really picky about cleanliness, be sure to say so on your questionaire ranking. If its more personal kind of stuff, your RA will give out room mate contract papers (not official or anything), that help in laying ground rules on visitors, habits, privacy etc. because most people don't go into res having ever had a roomate before. You might have to compromise on things, and if things don't really work out, there are lots of other places to study if that's what your worried about.

oh dear, it bums me out that I'm a little away from 90% and thus won't get to reap the benefits. oh well.

I'm glad to hear that the RA gives out contract papers; if I got double room assigned in July I was going to draw up my own contracts and I think that would really put my roommate off because it seems like I'm not trusting them. =S But it's more like, accidents and misunderstandings happen and I'd rather be clear then regret it later on.

On my questionnaire I'm going to put 5 for cleanliness and 4 for tidiness... hopefully the rankings are pretty well matched.

I never really study well in a public environment, so I'm really hoping for the single >__<

Anybody have any comments on the weather conditions at UWO?

I just realized today that i have to pay a 600 dollar deposit for rez by may 28. Is it possible to pay through telephone banking, and will that be any faster than paying online? Im sorta worried that they wont recieve the deposit in time and my res offer will be cancelled.

From what I know they haven't said anything about telephone banking. However, if the bank that offers you online banking also has telephone banking, then it may be possible.

I doubt it will be any faster than paying online however, I just sent mine in today, which will be processed on Monday. UWO says to give 2-3 business days... so... that's a little risky for you. Send it ASAP!!

Perhaps you could courier it?

if you sent it in today and they ask for 2 to 3 business days, wouldn't that mean it'd be processed on the 27th or 28th?

Yep. Scary thing is, you also have to have your questionnaire filled out by the deadline... by my calculations it'll be 2-3 days processing + 1-2 days questionnaire = around the 30th. v.v; Thank god my deadline is June 6.

You might want to call them to see if they will be a little lenient.

The questionnaire takes like two minutes to fill out. Once you get the email that theyve got your deposit, you can log on to the housing website and fill out the questionaire sameday.

I just finished paying and the bank teller said that the univeristy should recive the money by tuesday or wednesday. If you dont pay before monday theres a good chance that they might not recieve it by the deadline, so try to find a way to pay before its too late!

Personally I think the questionnaire deadline is just to urge people to submit it faster; after all the actual lottery won't happen until July.

i just sent my deposit today by check via mail (post mail)
is that what they mean by 'courier'?
considering the distance, (i'm in ottawa), i'm assuming thats 2-3 business days?
and should i be checking my Western email account, ie. on the site. or should i be checking my hotmail account for their notices?
sorry, just want to clear things up, thanks!!

Courier means Purolator, Priority Post, UPS etc. If you need something delivered by a certain date I wouldn't put my faith in regular mail. Courier gives you a guarantee like overnight or 2 business days etc depending on the type of service you choose. Even this late the most efficient way to do this is by online banking unless you're close enough to drive it there and drop it off yourself (which I realize you're not.)

Lisgar, check the account that you put down when you applied for the uni waaaay back when. They won't be sending things to your UWO account (or if they do, they send it to your original account as well). Hopefully your mail gets their on time; I like to send by courier because then I can track it, but I have some faith in Canada Post too =) If it gets there a little late, lets hope they're lenient and look at the postmark-date.

Josh, do you mean the confirmation email AFTER you paid deposit? If so, then I guess the lottery is early June like you said, but I wonder why the welcome package only comes in late July...

It says specifically that the deposit has to be processed IN THE OFFICE of administration by the date, or else you lose it (so if post delivers it after, you've already missed it)

You have to submit the money before you can choose your rez preferences. You don't submit money on the UWO website, you either mail it, or you go to your bank's website (eg Scotiabank, TD, CIBC), and you pay through online banking.
