I'm concerned. Im an Ontario student hoping to get into McGill's Science Program. I'm going into grade 11. What I see are students in IB getting into McGill in this thread, must I be in IB to be admitted into McGill?

I think they sometimes get accepted earlier or something. If you make the cut-off you'll get in, no matter where you go. (Ghetto public school degree for me)

I'm not in IB either smile

Don't worry, regular kids aren't at a disadvantage or anything. lol .. or if so i'll let you know after first year.
All you have to do is make sure you have some decent marks and that your top 6 is somewhat higher than the cutoffs to be on the safe side.
This year the cut off for science iwas like 87.5 I think.. not too bad. So aim for about an 88 avg next year.

Focus on good marks in English, Calculus and Vectors (not necessarily advanced functions, but you should try to do well in that too), and 2 science courses (Don't stress so much about doing well in all 3, but try), McGill also doesn't look at extracurriculars, and though it would be really nice to get involved and stuff, don't overdo it if your marks are suffering.

Basically, aim for 90, but don't worry if you don't quite make it. If you can get above 95, that's even better and gets you scholarships and rez of choice.

IB's definitely not a necessity.
I was in an IB high school, but not CEGEP.
Don't think it affects anything whatsoever.

On a side note...you people amaze me. Cut offs are 87.5? I did not know that...
Quebec cut-offs are like....26-29 R-scores...super low.

Hey everyone
I accepted McGill's offer last month and a little later I received a letter about my "conditions". The letter states that I must maintain my average mark in order to not get my offer revoked. I think I sort of messed up on my exams and I'm predicting that my marks will significantly drop..... Does anyone know anyone who got their offer revoked or does anyone know how lenient McGill is towards mark drops? By the way, I've applied for Arts and I had about a 90% average in midterms. It would be great if someone could help me out, thanks!!!
