I ask myself sometimes, just what would U of T have over any other university if it didn't have the rep?

Location Location Location.
If you live on rez, there is no other place aside from Ryerson where you can be so close to the action for so cheap.

The rankings suggest that UofT is the best but I beg to differ; I personally think that UBC is the best.

A little biased here XD

I pretty much have to agree with you there. UBC hands down. But, Vancouver or Kelowna? That is the true question.

Too bad there isn't a single university that stands out the most to beat those ivey league schools in US. . .

I think the only recognize Canadian university internationally is U of T

Nah Waterloo is pretty recognized too... Bill Gates came to there several times to speak there and that was the only Canadian stop on his tour... also there have been a lot of smart graduates from there including the person who found RIM (and hence Blackberrys)

And of course each Canadian university are famous for their own thing... Ivey leagues are definitely up there internationally but really with the tuition/rez price and the fact that ur taking only undergraduate there is not worth it I think.. maybe masters razz

i completely agree. I had the marks (and know many who do) to get admission to pricey US universities and was considering writing the SATs last year but I realized that ultimately a bachelor's degree, from anywhere, won't really do you a whole lot in the job market. It's what you do and where you go for your graduate studies that determines how well you do. Then it really matters, and i'm going to save my money so i can afford to go to the best of the best when it really does have an impact.

I think no matter where you go, you'll enjoy the school you go to! Different school's are catered to different people, and it all comes down to the experience that you're looking for! For me, Western was the perfect choice! I wanted to go to a larger school where I had the potential to meet more people, I love the staff and campus, and without a doubt, Western has the number 1 orientation program in the country! UWO to me... most pride!

I agree...McGill's location is one not to be beaten!!!!!!! I attend the MacDonald campus - a chance to get out of city life. But live downtown right in the heart of the city. THe shuttle is great ... we get the best of both worlds...except for the snow, but hey this is Canada

Unversity: I don't know.
College: Sheridan for Animation, St. Lawrence for Nurse, etc..

Every college and unversity excells usually at one thing and that one things attracts many and is what give its reputation. Its not a matter of which is the best overall, its a matter of what is the best at what and why. Its all comes down to experience, the more experienced the professors are the more likely of them having a good reputation and excelling at what they teach.
