What are you guys all worrying about? Mac HealthSci doesn't send out replies till early May.

Did they change it? My sister got in a couple years ago, her acceptance letter says March xx

For Ontario: Mac sent me an email saying acceptances won't be given until early May due to review of supplementary applications.
For Out-of-Province: Judging from other threads, I think some people have been accepted already. smile

But that was two years ago, you said? This year nobody from Ontario has gotten an acceptance to Mac HealthSci yet.

Yeah okay, looks like they changed it.

Actually really good for me, lmfao because I kind of majorly slacked in first semester.

Health Science is getting more popular, so ofcourse their requirements and expectations will be higher and they'll send out their acceptances later.

I'm considering not going to mac health science even if I get in... I really wanted to before but there are a lot of really smart, hard working (I mean like REALLY hard working, studying 5-6 hours a day) people going there and that's not going to help you ride the bell curve. Especially since the average GPA getting into UofT med school is 3.9

I like being with smart people, it challenges you and you'll be pushed up with them. I don't like being the top student, it's a lot of stress to keep yourself there and it can get sorta "lonely", but it's much easier when a lot of people are with you.

I was just wondering do the 160 seats for the Mac BHSc applicants included the 20 seats for 2nd year applicants also, or are there 20 additional seats for them?

Mcmaster only counts the top 6 marks so you should be fine.

By May, I'll have 7 completed credits and 4 mid terms. I really only needed to take English this semester to graduate and have my prereqs but there were just so many other courses that looked interesting.

I think it's kinda sad that in grade 12, in light of university, people lose sight of why they're in school. Reasons for taking a course or dropping a course are now almost always grade related, taking a course for the sake of learn something has become a novel concept.

I've noticed the same thing. I try to encourage my friends to stick with courses for the sake of learning, as long as it doesn't start dragging down their other course marks. As long as you have your acceptances and top six marks already, why not take that one extra course in your last semester of high school, for free? That's assuming you don't absolutely hate the subject and it's somewhat related to your university program, of course.

This is exactly why I have 10 courses this year, instead of five (I fast-tracked last year, so I could've had a spare one semester and two in another). But I chose to go for the fun courses, and my total ended up at 10. xD Two in night school, btw.

i'm not sure but i wouldn't imagine so. medical schools give no preference to the university you study at. The best candidates get in, regardless of the university they attended. I think your friend wasn't telling the truth, though what they may have mixed it up with was that mac hthsci students have a high percentage that end up in medical school.

personally, i don't think it's because of the program necessarily (though i do find the format interesting). I think it's more so because you've got a highly competitive program, all with students who have above 90 averages and impressive resumes, put them together in a room with 30 others like themselves, and you're going to have a high percentage who are going to be successful, probably because of the fact that they were already successful coming into the program.

Guys :S
I am home from night school and one of the people there who applied to health science got a rejection email from Mac saying he didn't have the minimum requirments... I'm sort of scared. Apparently several people from their school have received this email?

What I don't understand is why they are being sent out now of all things, before midterms are even put on OUAC??

maybe they didn't have the right type of courses---e.g. it asks for a minimum number of math or science courses and they don't have enough

I dunno, it seems like my marks are a bit lower than theirs and they still got the rejection letter. I haven't yet.

Make sure you have:

English
Biology 12
Chemistry 12
ONE of the 3 maths
1 non math, non science credit, computer and technology courses can NOT Be used for this.
1 more credit.
