Exactly, but unless they took people who were already in bad health from their drinking, its not legit.

Do you actually think the many scientific studies that have been done on this topic were not legitimate? We're talking about researchers from all across the globe, not idiotic high school kids. Get a grip.

Man if I got a grip everytime you said it I'd have no hands.
You;re looking at 3 studies, none with particularly large sample groups... This is not quite the same as tons of researchers across the globe. Anyway, you will probably notice that the biggest of the studies lasted 10 years, and this was in older people, if you look at the data they incurred. It included old age diseases exclusively. The studies justified (even if they are correct) for older people to have a small amount of alcohol. This has nothing to do with 18 year olds crushing 19 beers a night, I'm sure even you can grasp that. If when you talk about all this drinking you do, its a glass of wine or two a week, then you are quite right.

^19 beers isn't moderation though, that's heavy drinking even if you don't get hammered.

I'd pay to see someone still standing after 19 beers.

No. Quote:The medical studies establishing this relationship are large (some include over 200,000 people), cross-cultural (have been conducted in countries around the world), and are sometimes long-term (the longest beginning in 1948 and continuing to this day) The recommended dose of alcohol is about 3 drinks per day. Are there any real negatives when consuming 6-8 beers once or twice a week? No. I realize you don't want to drink. That's your opinion and right to choose. However, don't spread misinformation and act like drinking is so terrible.

I'm too lazy to search for studies at this time of night, but, depending on your tolerance level, 6-8 beers in one night for one to two nights per week IS going to add up. What I usually hear is that 1-2 glasses of wine (a step better than other alcoholic beverages because of its antioxidants) per day is awesome for your health. That, of course, translates into 7-14 glasses per week; however, drinking that amount in one day, even if only one day a week, will most definitely have negative health effects. It doesn't scale up like that.
6-8 beers in one night (for a good number of people) is going to saturate your system, and doing so is going to be damaging---ethanol, afterall, is a fairly potent toxin. Your liver certainly won't like it, neither will your brain. That being said, your body does have a miraculous ability to recover so long as you give it time to. 6-8 beers one or two nights a week during university probably won't do much in the long run; you'll just have to find a way to lay off it when you're done.

Not only is that a lot of alcohol, but that is also a lot of liquid. 24 beers is like 8.5 L of liquid.

What motive would I have to lie to you though?
