That's awesome. I don't think I've ever met anyone my age who watches/d it.

It requires a bit more intellectual strength than your average television show due to the complicated themes, number of characters, and long story-arcs. Still, I haven't found one person who dislikes it once they take the time to watch it. You should keep an eye out for David Simon's next project 'Generation Kill' which is coming out in July.

You can relax with a friend and a TV, you can get be happy from any number of things, if theres a situation where talking is an imperative, like a formal social occasion or a speach, alcohol is the last thing you need, otherwise, I don't see why being more... talkative is a big plus. Lowering inhabitions can be done mentally in a much safer and more reliable manner. Some inhabitions should not be lowered (as we see from any crime comitted under the influence), ... PAIN KILLER? only useful to kill pain u incurr while drunk. Otherwise, grab an advil...

Also, the negatives on that site you posted seem a bit more convincing:

decreased coordination
nausea, vomiting (vomiting while unconscious can kill)
reduced impulse control
emotional volatility (anger, violence, sadness, etc)
frequent urination (more with beer or wine), diuretic effect
dizziness and confusion
blackouts and memory loss at high doses
coma and death at extreme doses
brain and liver damage (cirrhosis) with heavy use
lowered inhibitions and increased confusion can lead to unwanted and negative sexual encounters (date rape)
hangover, lasting 12-36 hours, from mild to severe after heavy use
fetus damage in pregnant women at high dose or frequency

Most of those are caused by abuse.

At the point of any of the benifits the following will occur:
reduced impulse control
emotional volatility (anger, violence, sadness, etc)
decreased coordination
dizziness and confusion
lowered inhibitions and increased confusion can lead to unwanted and negative sexual encounters (date rape)
hangover, lasting 12-36 hours, from mild to severe after heavy use

and of course, if you go a little overboard, ur into:
nausea, vomiting (vomiting while unconscious can kill)
dizziness and confusion
blackouts and memory loss at high doses

and then if you have a high capacity for alcohol addiction, and get used to how it eases emotional pain ur into:
fetus damage in pregnant women at high dose or frequency [/quote]
coma and death at extreme doses
brain and liver damage (cirrhosis) with heavy use

so... ya

I agree with eco.
There's PLENTY of ways to have fun and chill out without alcohol and without harming your body.

There also plenty of ways to eat that won't harm your body. That doesn't mean people should never eat foods that they enjoy even though they have negative health consequences when abused.

Oh please. The harm caused by eating a burger is not equal to the harm that you could cause to yourself or others when drunk.

Drinking a litre of pop a day is likely worse for you than drinking a few nights a week. The reality is this:
A) You don't drink and therefore have no idea about the effects of alcohol.
and
B) You have no knowledge of the effects of drinking other than the scare tactics that have been thrust upon you by the government and your parents.

What is all this harm you're talking about that "drunk" people do?
