it might help if you told us what program this was smile

and just from reading your post...i guess it depends on what you value. Is having your school across the street and living for a few years longer with your parents, more important than going into a program and school that you would be proud of and excited for?

Don't go to Waterloo because as anniepoohh said there are ALOT of "nerdy asians" in Waterloo. Apparently according to anniepoohh, that is the bad side of Waterloo. smile

the fact that you are saying the reason why Waterloo has such a bad social scene is because it has a lot of "nerdy asians" is already implying that it is considered as a bad thing about Waterloo. Tell me one good reason what u have said in that thread have meant otherwise.. There are no other circumstances or any other logic that would otherwise explain what you have said.... and that probably because I considered it as a racist comment. Whether ur asian or not, that doesn't change the fact that ur putting a negative assumption on a group of students in Waterloo,... RACIALLY.

I never said or implied that it was bad that Waterloo had a "bad" social scene. It was the person who posted that topic who brought up the common (mis)conception that Waterloo has a bad social scene. I personally don't care if it's a party school or not. I simply brought up MY opinion of WHY Waterloo does not have a party reputation like Laurier's (which. in the TOIPC STARTER's opinion, is a bad thing).
Please don't mix my opinions with that of another person's.

Also, If I said that asian nerds overall are more hard working and studious...would you have called me a racist? Based on your experiences in your own life, does that generalization have absolutely no legitimate factual basis?

of course waterloo, its' got a better program right? and besides, first year is a learning experience, you should just try living away from home for a year.

It might also depend on your financial situation. Sometimes going to a school near home will save you a lot of money, and you won't be repaying loans for all those years in residence. It depends on the program of course, but my biology teacher suggested that most undergraduate degrees don't matter as much in terms of which school you attend. That's partially assuming you'll be pursuing a post-grad degree though. McMaster has some pretty good programs too, so you should consider the cost-vs.-benefits of going to Waterloo before you decide.

I also had to choose between Waterloo and McMaster =) McMaster is a bit closer to home, but I think I'd still be living on residence because commuting would take too much time. In the end, I decided on Waterloo.
