No, they are definitely not.

From today's news, even: Study: Tanning beds, UV radiation as deadly as arsenic, mustard gas, experts say.

Also.. You've got to be pretty high up on yourself if you think that you are going to change the way Karla looks because you called her pale. You're some random dude on an internet forum. How influencial do you really think you are? Lol.

No, im being serious. She said she didn't like to tan because of the risk of skin cancer.

I'm telling her to use tanning beds instead because they don't use real sunlight so you can't get skin cancer.

Well if you are indeed serious, I suggest you read the article. Basically it has been shown that tanning beds produce UV Rays 5x stronger than the average UV Ray from the sun = not good news.
The study done also says that people under the age of 35 (30 in another article I read) who use tanning beds were at a greater risk of developing melanoma = even worse not good news.

Tanning beds causing cancer is an urban myth (they proved otherwise on mythbusters). The people who wrote that article were the same scientists that tried to prove smoking was good for you back when cigarettes were invented.

The study was done by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, which is part of the World Health Organization, and the findings were published in a major oncology medical journal.

Personally, I believe them more than I do some children's television show.

1. International Agency for Research on Cancer uses fear to obtain funding through donations. Obviously they will tell you anything you do in your daily life will give you cancer.

2. Mythbusters is NOT a children's television show. Barney, however, is.

not contradicting at allllll....btw, is it jus me, or r most female rugby players blond???

I don't think it was contradictory. I don't go out of my way to tan, but I spend a very good chunk of my summer outside so I do get a tan. I am very good with sunscreen however.

And you guys are dumb if you think tanning beds can't cause cancer. Besides why would I waste time lying in a tanning bed

I understand the idea of questioning information and not believing anything you hear, but you need to look at the sources also. Even if you think that IARC physicians and scientists are just using scare tactics to get funding, this study was published by a very major peer-reviewed medical journal; The Lancet is a major publication that physicians and scientists work really effing hard to get into, and have their research ripped to shreds on the way in. This isn't the national enquirer, this is one of the world's most prestigious medical journals.

Not only that, if you still want to disbelieve the WHO and its minions, The Lancet is known for having even publicly criticised WHO claims in the past. So if there's anyone who you should be more likely to believe given your suspicions, these are the people who are most likely on your side because of the kind of scrutiny they give before publishing. Face it, ederoo - the only people advocating suntanning beds are those who sell them and use them.

I'll concede on that one.
