How to release stress?

For me i like to go out with my friends. They make me so happy and they can take my mind off of things for a while.
Also swimming. Definitely swimming. Just doing laps you know. ITs so relaxing. Youre just in the water and you feel so free. smile

Cardio workout. Listening to loud and/or upbeat music. Gets me every time.

PS I'm not an athletic person. Going to the gym just makes me feel better

I would say working out, sometimes it's a really good motivator to get you to go the extra mile, thus getting better results big grin

having 7 courses i know all about stress. luckily the campus has many miles of beautiful hiking paths and i get to walk for hours, clear my head and get more oxygen before i hit the books, also the gym is handy and there is a pool near by. we also have Yoga classes that greatly help reduce stress and the side effects.

I'm a martial artist and I relieve stress through my TaeKwonDo classes, board games(chess and backgammon in particular), computer games(Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 in particular), other games(Halo, Guitar Hero, Arcade, etc.), and through eating.

exercising really helps to get rid of stress. It's also helpful to talk to someone that knows you well and you trust.
Last semester i had a total meltdown for 2 weeks because of applications and grades, and it was NOT fun. Those 2 weeks seemed like 2 years, so i talked to my mom about it and she supported me and helped me get rid of a LOT of that stress.

If you are a little stressed, you should just work out or do some physical activity, but if you are super stressed you should talk to someone about it.

I relieve stress with sports
Because you can't think of other things while you are trying to compete
so it helps me get my mind off it

i do extra curricular/fun work to destress my school-me.....
basically its alot of facebooking but for legit causes. or i write- anything from a blog about my hair to an indepth look at why young adults are 'maturing' too soon, and the adverse affects it has on society at large. i'm not visually artistic or atheletic or anything, so writing "vents" all my energy.

and failling that, i attack my treadmill for about half an hour. razz but i rarely let it get THAT BAD wink

Go to a concert. Release all of that pent-up stress and emotion in the mosh pitt. <3
Or sleep, get away for the computer for a while.

Making things usually relieves my stress. I like to paint, draw cook, write and take pictures, so when I'm feeling like I'm at the end of my rope, I pick up a pencil or pull out my camera and try to focus on the activities that make me feel like me. Once my mind is settled, it's much easier to approach the situation that is causing me stress and find a solution.

Also, taking my dog out for a walk helps. Getting exercise and exploring the neighborhood with my dog makes us both a little happier. smile

You mean there's a way to RELIEVE stress?? Why was I never told of this? lol

I'm usually one big stress ball (especially when it comes to tests and projects and whatnot). But when I need a break from it (putting in on pause), I might take a nap, play a game, or something like that. Usually the stress goes away as soon as I finish what I was stressing about.

Its a proven fact that releasing endorphins (which is done through excersize) helps relieve stress!
AND.. its good for your body, mind and health to excercise, so really what better way to relieve stress then excercising!
Pick a sport or activity you like to do and just go with it! it also helps when you have a sport or activity because it allows you to schedule your work load around it and gives you specific times to do the work you need to get done!

What I do everyday to destress is to just go for a long walk with my MP3 player. Its where I do my thinking and how I relax.

If I'm pissed off I'l burn that away at the gym or playing the occasional video game.

When I am feeling stressed out I take a break from what I am doing, and do at least one of the following things: listen to music, go to the gym, watch tv, or walk around. It helps clear my head from what I was stressing over, and I end up being more focussed after.
