I think that gay marriage isn't really marriage ..it's more like a friendship at a deep level. That kind of explains why two gay women need external sperm banks, for example. Same with men. I'm not intolerant to them, but it's not really a marriage in my eyes.
What's your opinion?

"Marriage" is just a legal contract and bond between two people. Take away the religious BS about who can and who can't do what, and that's all it is. If two people of the same sex want to get together, why not?

In the words of Peter Griffin regarding marriage "If gays want to be as miserable and unhappy as the rest of us I say let them"

I would describe any good marriage as just friendship at a deep level

Why is being or becoming, as some people like to think, gay have to be a negative mutation?
It could be positive for all we know and we're the negative ones. If it's a genetic mutation then so be it but I think it's wrong to say that it's a negative mutation.

like someone mentioned, what's there to believe? if people want to get their union recognized legally and obtain benefits from it, let them. i could care less if it was two men, two women, or a man and a woman as long as they're two consenting adults. there really should be no involvement of religion in this matter.

Well, considering the goal of a species is to survive and reproduce, from a strictly evolutionary stand point, you could see being gay as a 'negative' mutation. Gay animals in the wild would not reproduce off spring, and their genetic info would be lost

well then if we're looking at it from a strictly evolutionary stand point of passing on genes, we should all be for polyamory and polygamy. in the wild you rarely find monogamy--the norm is several females with one male of a species and i think there may be some cases where females swap multiple male partners.

Absolutely. You can't really look at human behavior from a strictly evolutionary view point anymore anyways.

Polygamy and polyandry depend on the amount of parental investment. So humans technically should be slightly polygamous

It's not like the loch ness monster that you can pick to beleive in it or not- it exists, lol. The title seems kind of bizarre to me.

I support it, if thats what you're asking.

I wouldn't say that I support gay marriage, but I'm not against it either. I just couldn't care less. It's amusing to see the hippies and Bible thumpers clash on Parliament Hill, while I sit at home not caring.

I'm pretty sure homosexuals have better marriages than the extremely volatile opposite-sex marriages nowadays where most likely you'll be divorced by 30.
So it's not a question whether they really live up to the expectations, it's a question of how bigoted you are to deny people something so simple yet meaningful?

My reason for being against gay MARRIAGE is pretty pedantic... I have no problem with gay relationships, but when you bring in the word 'marriage', it displeases me. Like a few have said above, this is strictly because I am religious and the definition of marriage that comes along with it. For those who see marriage as simply a legal unionization, obviously this makes no sense whatsoever.
