so i'm having a REALLY difficult time deciding between Bricker or King/Waterloo College, and this might sound kind of dumb haha but how do parties generally work in single dorms? the rooms are tinyy! i know it'd be easy with an apartment but how about like King St or WCH?

Also, if i put apartment style as my first choice, will it be really hard to get Bricker?

And is is true that you'll meet more people in a dorm style (such as King) over an apartment style (such as Bricker)?

ahh sorry for so many questions, but i'm SO undecisive =|

There aren't a ton of parties in residence. There's predrinking but people tend to go out to bars or parties. In both King St. and WCH people just have some friends over for predrinking, or maybe party in the lounge a bit. Like I said though, it's generally just some people predrinking before they go out.

I think dorm-style tends to be a bit more visitor-friendly in terms of meeting people because it's easier to wander into somebody's dorm compared to their apartment which tends to be more secluded.

I guess it depends what you classify as a "party". I lived in dorm-style and basically every night there was some people on my floor drinking. There were also people drinking at a bunch of other residences too that I knew. I didn't know many people in apartment-style residences so I can't really comment on the parties, but you have to remember Dons aren't going to allow huge parties to take place. You'll meet a ton of people and go to a ton of parties whether you're in dorm or apartment-style residence.

Just so you know what you're getting into...

Quote:
The university is converting 100 single bedrooms in apartment-style units in Bricker Residence into double occupancy by replacing the single beds with bunk beds. The university will also create additional storage space in these units and install wireless Internet service throughout the residence building so that students can work on their computers outside of their bedrooms.

For each student who accepts a placement in one of these converted double rooms, the university will reduce the cost of residence by 50 per cent ($2,698 per student versus the full cost of $5,396). It will also supply each of these students with a free laptop computer, match volunteers with a roommate of their choice, and guarantee a spot in Bricker Residence — the university’s most popular apartment-style residence.

If you move in on the designated day they will help you move all your stuff in. Plus, you'll meet all your floormates right away. Why delay moving in?

What do you mean? It's less than a hour away from Toronto. It gets about the same weather as Toronto.

I got Bricker, Single. However, as I have found out through Facebook, I have 2 female roommates. Either I'm really lucky, or they made a booboo during rooming assignment. I think its the latter.

hahaha That seems to be happening a lot lately

I'd call the residence office and get it fixed now so that you don't have to deal with an extremely awkward situation on day 1.

Trust me, there is nothing lucky about living with girls hahaha

when are we getting the residence contract?

On my room assignment, it says Apartment style: double room at bricker. I'm assuming that's the double bunked room.
