I really don't think that they are going to be judging everyone's posts based on how positive and progressive they are. They're just reserving the right to delete spam, blatantly offensive messages, and completely useless ones (like if you start a thread and reply to it 4 times with nothing constructive in the whole thread) and not have them count. I mean, your post isn't overly useful, but it's not like anything I listed above either, and it's prompting a reply!

I don't think they'd realistically check everyone, either; but, if they draw a name of someone who appears through automated means to be over the threshold I think they might specifically check that person just to make sure. The moderation doesn't tend to be very apparent normally, anyway, which is nice.

There are no pre-law programs in Canada. You can get in with any degree, do what interests you most. 1 We are from Mac! 2 A little bit louder! 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more... Goodness, there's a lot of people posting on here. I hope we can all benefit from student awards ^-^
If not all of us, hopefully me. My parents earn too much and might disqualify me for student loans. I got $2,700 last year for scholarships, maybe I can be as lucky this year. Stupid government and their insistence that I'm not independent until I'm 21...

Stupid government and their insistence that I'm not independent until I'm 21... Everything I've seen in terms of qualifying as an independent student does not involve a particular age. Then again, the regulations could differ a bit by province and maybe there is an age in your province. On the other hand, some of the regulations are consistent as part of the loan is the Canada student loan. Quote:For OSAP purposes, you are considered a dependent student if none of the following applies to you: You are married. You are in a common-law relationship. You are a sole-support parent. You are separated, divorced, or widowed, AND have NO dependent children living with you. You have not been a full-time student at a high school or postsecondary institution for at least 12 consecutive months on 2 or more occasions. You have been out of high school for at least 4 years before the start of your study period. I suppose with the last one, if you take more than 4 years out of high school to finish (either through taking a year off, or taking an extra year to finish the degree, or some combination of the two), you can qualify for OSAP as an independent student for after the 4 years.
