Is it just me or did the quality of this forum go down the drain when the forum was 'reborn'?
There were a few flamewars and useless threads on the old forum, but most of the threads were very informative... even for university students. Now, this forum feels like a kindergarten at best.
Plus, where did all the 'old' posters go? I've only seen a handful of users that I recognize from the old SA.

And univforum is turning into SA. Believe me on that. We recently see no trolls or anything there. It started to get boring. Then, I checked this forum; someone posted a link. This one seems very hepful, but it is all serious. You guys have no trolls here? We should go troll Univforum maybe, lol! No trolling there recently.

I'm new here but I see a clear quality difference between SA and Uniforums. We should do everything that we can to make sure that this forum doesn't decline to the level of uniforums.

I checked out univforums and it looks brutal. This is definitely no where close to that.

I like the layout and colour scheme of SA. The site is too dark for me...feels like they just threw that website into a whole that is inescapable. Also SA seems more useful/academic than Univforms.

Agreed; especially when I was on a panic consumption splurge for information late May, SA was a big help to me while Univforums just freaked me out. UWO 2012

Uniforums are all about shock value but really are too insulting for my liking.
I am a person of mixed race (white, native, Asian and brown (East Indian)) and some of their thoughts on race are too much for me.

It seems to be more of a collection of idiots than a forum. I'd best most of the people there aren't even in university Carleton University Class of 2012, Honours Bachelor of Arts

Josh, are you the Josh of Univforum? This one: http://www.univforum.com/canadian-universities/viewtopic.php?t=3582 People were discussing, in that thread, whether he (you?) should get banned or not. Yeah, Univforum and SA are too different, but I think both are extreme. Univforum is too honest. If you go to a university that is not that good, they will make you cry by saying your university sucks at every opportunity. SA, on the other hand, is too nice. Even when your university is not that good, people here will tell you that it is good. This SA type of counseling is good if you already got in university, but what if you are considering a school? When people tell you that it rocks (when in fact it doesnt), when you later get in, you might have a reality shock. So I think there must be a middle grounds, and if SA is turning into Univforum, I think it is good, because it means that SA is finally going towards that middle ground.

I think here is where we mention that every school in Canada (that participated in the NSSSE survey) had well over 60% of students responding that they found their overall educational experience to be "Good" or "Excellent", and said "Definitely Yes" or "probably yes" when asked if they'd chose the school again. And while I'm not sure exactly how Univforum likes to group schools into "good" and "bad", schools like Trent and Nippising that people like to put down in pissing contests are way ahead of Toronto on those types of measures. And, quite frankly, I'd need something well backed up to put any weight at all on a high school student saying "School X sucks".

How rude. We never trash talk Studentawards on Univforum.
I guess we just have a bit more class than you misguided anti-fanboys.

The Carleton BA is considered in some circles as "last chance U". They still get their share of quality students but some people ignore that fact.. Carleton's location is a problem because Ottawa has two universities and its population is relatively low. So their entering average is not as high as some other universities.

I was accepted to some of the best universities such as Laurier and Queen's, but I chose Carleton because they offer a major in law, which the other two universities don't. Their scholarships have been excellent and the city in itself is a great place to be and grow. On the other hand, Waterloo has a population of only 90,000 and it too has two universities.
