Hey guys Its very likely I will be going to UofA this fall for BA-Poli Sci. Even though I'm originally from Edmonton I've never really ventured into the area surrounding the university. It will be like I'm moving to a new city, almost. I will probably be moving into my grandmas house near the old airport since its free and I can be on my own.

I have a few questions for those going to UofA;
-How is the transit system in Edmonton?
-what have you heard about poli sci at UofA?
-what is a nice area to live in around campus?
-how is the party scene?
-whats your general opinion on UofA? do you think it was the best choice for you?
-how would you rate the ladies?

If your considering UofA or will be going, feel free to tell us a little about what your taking and plan on living.

thanks!

I'm from calgary as well but a lot of my friends went to U of A this year.
I don't know too much about the actual schooling but they are all definitely
having an amazing time. The parties are supposed to be pretty wild and
since most people are legal there is quite a few trips to the bar.
They all like their programs, though none are in Poli sci and I doubt any of
them would want to go anywhere else.

Hahah! I like your question about "how are the ladies..."

anyways, I'm planning to go to UA too, but all I have seen is inside of the Lister Dorm (I helped my friend move to his dorm last year).

I don't know what your definition of "nice" is...but the Lister Dorm rooms are pretty small, public washrooms for first years, public kitchen, and the furniture looks "well lived in." But besides that, it's on campus and it's easy to get around to other places.

There is also the HUB, which is also on campus. The rooms at the Hub aren't furnished. The main level of the Hub is like this huge open, cafeteria-like place. For me, when I went there, it smelt like fast-food grease. The good thing about the Hub is that it's really close to the Edmonton train (C-train thing...)

But yeah, I'll be looking forward to UA for a change of environment!

the transit system in edmonton is okay i guess but if you live near campus then you can walk aall over and don't have to go anywhere by bus. the river valley is by campus and you got whyte ave (the place to be on a friday night....a street of clubs and pubs) and well the hospital and shopping on whyte...your set if you find a good cheap place around campus....theres lots
