I am in a program where a lot of young women have developed eating disorders..... as a friend I want to help, but I am not sure what to say or do???? Can someone give some suggestions.... they are having trouble affording to go seek proffession help, so I don't know where they could seek financial help... Anyone????

Once the problem becomes a "disorder," OHIP will definitely cover it. Even better, does your university or college have a student health plan?

My sister has an eating disorder, to get help my parents went to the hospital where they set her up therapists and made sure she was at healthy weight, which was free. They have inpatient programs also which my sister has gone to, which seem are effective at keeping the patients healthy, but mentally is much more difficult. It is a really tough, crazy disorder. My sister has it for over two years now and has been in and out of the hospital many times. As for what to do or say, I'm not really sure, your always told to be supportive but what does that really mean? I guess just let them know that you are there for them and you accept them for who they are.
