Ok, so i know that not ALL scholarships can be easily attained..i mean it is MONEY after all but I mean...I still believe it should be at least a little easier...at least for current students because it's harder to write essays added to the piles of home-work we have to complete. Yes, I know University will be hell & we'll have NO life (so tired of hearing that story) but...how do I say this? CUT US SOME SLACK!! Lol...I'm almost positive I'm not the only one that feels this way. They should have more quizes or form thingies you fill out, or if we MUST write essays, make them all 500 words or LESS...we can't be writing BIBLES when we have so much to do...I barely have time to BREATHE!!! The Ministry of Education should create some kind of general form we complete with the basic requirements of a scholarship like one's activities and/or leadership skills and of course proof of financial need. If they do have one..I certainly don't know of it. I'm a new immigrant & i'm impressed with the schooling system here, honestly I am, so helping us future University students just a tad more could help A LOT (& save my sanity!).

Personally I don't have a problem really with the writing, although thats probably because I tend to like writing.
My problem is that I just don't feel there's enough for us...I mean I have to pay everything by myself, and it is kind of depressing that I haven't gotten a dime yet despite the fact that I've done quite a few leadership-based things; I have a high average; I don't have a large income family; and think I write quite well...
I'm just looking at all of the costs I've going to be hit with over the next year (~6K tuition; $800 metropasses; 1-2K books; 1K fees & food, etc) and its all quite overwhelming. I'm not sure how I can cover this with just OSAP & entrance scholarships...
(Sorry I realized I've kind of veered off topic).

I agree!!!... Plus, there are a lot of scholarships available and if I have to write an essay to each of them I think im gnna go insane as well... lol.. i mean it is all abt time management... but for other companies who's intention is just to help us students pay our school expenses... why not just look at our profile, extracurricular activities, academic standing n references to choose the winner. I guess I am just getting tired right now. Anyways... im still hunting more scholarships.

(Sorry I realized I've kind of veered off topic). I understand what you're saying, totally. I do am a lover of the pen and paper and consider myself something of a writer but the act of writing can become such a pain when the topic you have to write on is not exactly your forte and to make matters worse, you need a good amount of SUBSTANCE. Have you ever tried writing a 5 or more page essay on something you hardly know anything about..yeah...not so fun. I feel your pain though..the cost of things right now tend to augment my Insomnia!!! BUT...if we do nothing at all, the money definitely won't take a trip to our wallets! So...stay positive!! (I just hope I can take my own advice when everything appears not to be going my way).

for me, it feels like the deadlines are far too soon. i just finished the page and application and stuff for a scolarship that was due on the 15th, i sent it on the 14th, but i still need my letters of reference in. i planto send them tomorrow, but the pathedic part is, i didn't ahve enough time to explore the univerity's website to find out about the scolarship soon enough, i found out on the 12th, which left me very little time to get it all organized and i still need my third reference. i just hope everything gets accepted, even though my references will be late.

Yeah but consider where the money is coming from. The people who are donating the money want to make sure that who gets it is truly the best candidate and shows that they want it the money by putting in the effort. I think its justified the amount of time and effort you have to put in.

Money is the biggest fear for me right now. Rounding off my pricing for next year, not including food, clothing, and other misc. expenses, its going to cost me about $12,000 for my first year of college!! I'm putting myself through college with no help from my folks so I decided to take a year off and work full time, which was a good sounding plan at the time. Jobs were not abundent in my town so I was stuck with a part-time job for the first 3 mths and now Im working full-time at a call center because that was the only place hiring full-time. I have no problem with my job as of right now but the thought of that much money is a little scary...I just hope that I can deal with it when it comes
