I wouldnt have a problem with obese people if i didn't have to support them financially. they are the ones ending up in hospitals, and we are paying taxes so they can eat food, get fat, and get benefits because they cant walk or move.

That's an interesting thought, however I believe it is flawed. Do you hate people who play sports because they are more inclined to get hurt and use our resources? Likely not. Do you eat a perfectly healthy diet or do you sometimes eat unhealthy? Why should we pay for your lack of self-control?

The whole point of socialized medicine is allowing EVERYBODY equal access to medical care, even if it is their own fault.

Do you believe that smokers should not have access to medical care because they choose to smoke?

Just wanted to share with you a finding from a study I heard about.
Healthy persons actually cost the government MORE money than obese people do!!! At first you may think it's ridiculous, but then it's really because obese people and smokers I believe die earlier and therefore get outta the healthcare system faster vs. a healthy senior who lives to 90 something! so ironic >.<

Give a source or it's pointless.

That is definitely true - one of its principals is to let equal access to medical care. BUT since that is the case we should be trying to prevent 'epidemics' like obesity from happening because not only does preventing this lead to healthier lifestyles but more productivity and less taxpayer money spent on medicare and on other more problems such as poverty and climate change.

I think more money should be spent on preventing problems like obesity and smoking. If it means banning McDonalds and Tobacco, so be it. But... that's never going to happen is it?

That is insane. The War on Drugs is bad enough, and you want to ban McDonalds?

I would looooove to see smoking eradicated.

I hate everything about it and I hate when I get it blown in my direction.
