In case anyone doesn't know, Ontario is providing a Textbook and Technology grant each year to College and University students.

The grant is current $150/year and once they fully implement this new system, it will be increased to $300/year.

You are eligible for this grant if you meet the following requirements:
- To be eligible for a Textbook and Technology Grant, you must be a student at a provincially assisted Ontario university or college of applied arts and technology.
- You must be attending a program that the Ministry has approved for this grant.
- You must be a full-time student, attending a minimum of 60 per cent of a full course load, or 40 per cent for a student with a permanent disability.
- And you must be a Canadian citizen, a Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person.

You can receive only one Textbook and Technology Grant per OSAP academic year.

Application Deadlines
- One-term programs (12 to 20 weeks in duration) - Your application must be submitted within the first 30 days of your study period.
- Two- and three-term programs (21 to 52 weeks in duration) – Your application must be submitted by 90 days before the end of your study period.

Also, if you have already filled out an OSAP application for this year, you are automatically entered into the request for a TTG.

The Textbook grant you have to apply for I just did it.

I still haven't gotten my other grants though. Does anyone know when you get your grants?

I didn't realize at first that I was automatically entered for the TTG grant and I filled out the application, now I wonder if that will somehow screw up my applications? Should I cancel the application I filled out or will that mix things up even more? eek!

You are automatically considered for the Texbook Grant if you applied for OSAP this year.

The only time you need to submit the separate application is if you did NOT apply for OSAP this year.

I was about to consider if I might qualify for the travel grant by virtue of the fact that my permanent home address is now in BC and thus well over 80km from the nearest Ontario school but I guess I'm not a dependent student anymore (And yes, I know for loan purposes I'm definitely an Ontario resident. For some other purposes it's less clear when you're studying out of province and your permanent address moves to a third province razz)

Remember that it often takes just as long to do a search or two on Google to try and find the answer to your question as it takes to type it in a post here, let alone the time waiting for a reply.
If your question is "What mark does it take to get into University X", or "What are the requirements to get into University X", it's on their website and/or electronicinfo.ca (for Ontario schools). Particularly for Ontario schools, those ranges are a pretty good picture of what kind of mark will get you into the program, and if you're more than a couple percent higher it's practically guaranteed unless it requires a supplementary form.

That'd be great if you could study on the other side of the world and claim the travel expenses, since your permanent address would still be at Ontario razz

Reminds me of a military joke:

Quote:
A British General had sent some of his men off to fight for their country in the Falkland Island Crisis.

Upon returning to England from the South American island, three soldiers that had distinguished themselves in battle were summoned to the General's office. "Since we weren't actually at war," the General began, "I can't give out any medals. We did, however, want to let each of you know your efforts were appreciated.

What we've decided to do is to let each of you choose two points on your body. You will be given two pounds sterling for each inch of distance between those parts. We'll start on the left, boys, so what'll it be?"

Soldier 1: "The tip of me head to me toes, sahr!" General: "Very good son, that's 70 inches which comes to 140 pounds"

Soldier 2: "The tip of the finger on one outstretched hand to the tip of the other, sir!"

General: "Even better son, that's 72 inches which comes to 144 pounds"

Soldier 3: "The palm of me hand to the tip of me left pinky, sahr!"

General: "That's a strange but fair request, son!

As the general begins the measurement: "What! Son, where is your left pinky?"

Soldier 3: "Falkland Island, sahr!"
cheers
