Hey guys!
This is my first time posting (stumbled onto this forum while looking for admission information

) and my question is:
Lately, I have been hearing two stories. The first story is that UBC commerce is the most competitive faculty to get into (at UBC) and it requires the highest GPA, even higher than Sciences. A lot of people are trying to get into this program and they aren't accepting lots, and rejecting many. Also, they've said your marks count A LOT (going back to the highest GPA note).
Question: how high of a GPA do you need for them to accept you?The other side have said that admissions into UBC have been dropping and as a result, they have took away the provincial exam marks. So apparently, now it's a lot easier to get into UBC
(but does that count for UBC commerce as well?). This side have also told me that marks are only worth about 50% of the admission because the other 50% is based on the supplement admission requirement. They have told me that they don't want book nerds who study all the time, getting 98% but have no volunteer experiences. But instead, they want people who are well-rounded. I heard that some people have gotten in with a GPA of low 80s but have had enough volunteer hours and/or extra curricular activities outside of school (which is why they were accepted).
Final Questions: Which side is right? Or is it a mixture of both? (what i mean by that is an okay GPA and is well rounded)I'm getting a bit scared now because my GPA is low to mid 80s (I'm in grade 12 currently, my academic courses are AP Calculus 12, French 12, Math 12, AP English 12, Chemistry 12, Geography 12<-taking online). I am taking these courses mainly because they're provincially examinable courses and you need 2 plus Math 12 and Eng 12 for commerce. I don't know how high my marks will be because I'm not a super smart, 95% and above student. But I am involved in a lot of activities at school like grad council and outside of school (volunteering at church and St John Ambulance). Another reason is why I'm stressing out is because I am seeing a lot of people here from Ontario taking all three sciences, calculus and are getting really high marks in them.
Thanks guys!
