I got a 75% average in high school, didn't apply to UofT, and accepted York's offer for a BA in English. I'm currently very unsatisfied with the traveling time I put forth to get to York and the amount of people I know here frown, and I'm seriously considering my options. I was thinking I could either:

- Drop out this year, get my tuition money back, and work for a year then apply to first year UofT humanities among other places
- Finish this year, apply for a transfuse to 2nd year UofT humanities
- Drop out this year, get my tuition money back, and go to a semester of highschool and raise 2 of my grades, as well as applying to first year U of t humanities

Does anyone have any advice for me here?

What do you guys think my chances are of getting admitted to the transfer at SG are? Or even first year humanities at that matter, and do you guys think working for an entire year is a mistake instead of being at school? Or wasting a year of my life being worth it? Help! AHHH

I knew a friend in highschool, who decided to take a year off after highschool. Some of my other friends made fun of him (for jokes) throughout the year. Now, hes in first year. My other friend who made fun of him, flunked out of first year, so now HES behind. So, i learned that, in the long run a year won't affect your whole life, you will always have the oppurtunity to regain that year.

Ok, here are your options you listed, i will expand on them:
1. If you decide to drop out and apply to UofT next year, your chances of getting in are low since your marks wearen't that good.
2. If you decide to drop out and attend highschool, your chance of getting in are good (as well, you can work and make some money)
3. But i recommend that you finish off your first year, get good marks, atleast above 75%, then switch to UofT humanities.

But, if you are in need of money, i think you should do option #2 listed above. Don't even think of doing option #1, its like a walking blind into a trap.

Also, before you make any decision, go talk to the York guidance councellers, they will know alot about the transfer success rate.

How hard is it to get a C+ - B average in first year? I'm not sure if I want to risk it and then be totally screwed, I think falling back on highschool for a semester is also a good idea. But then I'll also be losing out on a year in which I could potentially exceed at York and then go into U of T. I think the main thing I need to find out are my chances of getting through with a transfer. I asked the individual at York and he told me to contact them about their transfer information. Do you think getting a transfer would be easy? This is bothering me so much, and I only have like a week to find out before I have to pay York tuition and whatnot. The classes at York aren't that bad - it's just commuting and my schedule that's been killing me (my horrible schedule if anyone's interessted: http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk247/zubin101/untitled.jpg )

I think you need more than a C+ - B average to transfer? I could be wrong, but I seem to remember it being a bit competitive.

Well I'm going to try and call U of T tomorrow to find out, if that's the case then I'm completely screwed and should definitely fall back to highschool. But it's so stupid, all you need is a 76% average to get into U of T SG humanities, transferring shouldn't be that difficult frown

K, I need close to an 80 average first year, and if I don't get it I'm screwed, so I think I'll take half a semester off, go to ase (high school) for a semester and get my average back up to near 80, and apply to multiple places yet still go to U of T! It kinda sucks that I have to waste a year, but at least I'll get where I want to go and I'll make some money working from now until February.

Anyone think this is a bad idea? Or a good idea? I need some opinions!

Wait, what do you mean take half a semester off? You mean finish the first term at york? if so: make sure the credits are transferable, or
1. you will waste 1 term's tuition fee AND
2. End up starting from the start when you enter UofT

Don't you think its better that you drop out of York right now.
Get back ALL your tuition fees.
Get two jobs until highschool starts.
Make alot of money.
Quit 1 job.
Start highschool (i am guessing during january?).
Finish highschool.
Enter UofT.
