I'm starting to pack up for my move to Ottawa in two weeks, and I'm wondering about bringing my old high school notes with me. How often (if ever) do you refer to your high school notes in university? Are there a lot of things you look back on to refresh your memory, or is everything entirely new?

If you don't bring your notes, not a huge deal. Also depends on the courses you are taking. I looked at my grade 12 calculus notes once, first year, and I would have looked at my statistics notes this summer if I had them.

^LOL. IF YOU DONT HAVE THEM YOU'LL FAIL AND END UP BACK IN HIGHSCHOOL.
Notes for calc are unnecessary, i mean it should already be second nature, it should just be a matter of practicing not making mistakes. Maybe bring your notes for chem, first year chem was by and large a huge review of gr 11/12...but not bringing them isn't the end of the world though.

I never looked at my high school notes. If you really need a refresher you could probably find what you need online.

dont bother bringing your notes..some of the material you learn in 1st is a review from highschool..if you forget anything..it is usually explained in the textbook..pluz its not like your going to have all that time to review everything you have learned from the last 2 years ..

You probably won't need them. You will have some review material in first year-it's not all going to be new stuff, and a lot of concepts are taught differently at the university level-especially in the sciences. I remember in my first year chem class on the first day the prof said "Everything you learned in highschool about chemistry is essentially wrong. So forget everything you've learned up to this point." Now that might have been a slight exaggeration, but there were a lot of differences-highschool really 'dummied up' a lot of the major concepts. I had brought all my notes with me, but I found it was easier to just start fresh than to try and rely on my old notes and my old understanding of things. I do keep all my university notes though, and textbooks, and find it helpful to refer back to them in upper year classes.
