That would be a good idea unless you want to come across as ignorant.

Sure Einstein did poorly in school, but he made significant accomplishments afterwards, therefore he is considered brilliant.

I dunno about Einstein, i always heard that it was a myth... but heres a better example, Isiac Newton was called "stupid" by his teacher, and the infamous quote that we rarely hear about " Newton! you will get nowhere in life, only thing that will get you through is your good personality"... oh boy, did he prove her wrong! But, Newton wasn't called stupid because he didnt put the effort in school, but becasue, newton and MANY great accompolished people had the trouble of NOT understanding basic concepts during thier early chilhood. There have been books written about them, they see flying letters instead of a well written essay, they see jumping numbers instead of a simple equation. But that is only thier childhood, once they are older its very different.

But the case here in this thread is not about childhood difficulty but shear laziness (as addmitted by the thread starter from the very start). Laziness may have little physicological affliction, but the majority is the individual's fault. If a person fails a course after studying 24/7 and couldn't undersatnd the course what so ever is VERY different from failing becasue of laziness.

And none of the comments made were ignorant, but simple facts.

You're right. I'd much rather come off as pretentious and obnoxious.

well this has become more a different discussion so ill join in what the hell. Yes einstine was autistic and some ppl believe this also made him dyslexic. he was not model student but because his lack of social contact his "illnesses" allowed him to concentrate on his thoughts which allowed him to come up with some of the greatest discoveries ever. Thanks you Nat Geo.

yes you are right , how smart some one is cannot be decided by some ones academic achievement alone, there are other aspects, in my case i had not put any real effort into my work because i felt i could take short cuts , i did not do any planning or structure i just didd things as the crow fly,s my outcomes usually tend to be of a superior quality and that's why said i don't try much but i still do well.

edit* ok i re read what you have writtian and i dont think you know what i was talking about, i am not a bad student i have an average of 89% right now, but i know if my lazyness coninues i will not be able to maintain that 89% i am saying that i need to get rid of the habbit so i can achive more then 89%.

No, you mis read me, im not in denial that you are not smart. But like you said, without loosing that lazyness, that 89% will barely even be worth a 60% in university. Theres no better way to loose lazyness then setup a study group smile

well guys im going to be in grade 11 now and i think its time i turned over a new leaf. For a long time i have been just outstandingly lazy, i like to base my self on the get things done quickly and efficiently. Now i have been lucky for now cause im smart and have been able to pull of above average scores without trying. How ever i will now be entering the IB years and i cant afford to do this. My organization is pathetic cause i think organizing takes to long for example i dont actually hole punch stuff and put it in my binder, i just throw it in and hope to find it later. I just mentally think that if i finish things quickly i will have more time for fun. I cant get into my head that if i work hard i will reap any reward cause for the past 15 years i havent worked hard and still done well.

the problem is not that i dont know i need to do more work. im sure you can clearly see i understand what my problem is , its just that i cant change my self to better my self cause im so rigid.

to recap, im lazy pathetic but brilliant, i need to work hard, i know im pathetic but i cant change my self, how can i convince my self mentally to improve my life style and show some sincerity so i can be well prepared for uni?

You can be lazy for another year. Step it up in grade 12.

My uncle once told me, effort/initiative is not something that you can just turn on overnight. It is something that must be developed and practiced regularly... and only then will it actually help you. He then used the old analogy of the "stairs vs. jump", meaning it's easier to go from a low platform to a high platform using stairs than by trying to jump it. Like all sayings, this one has its exceptions... I've seen plenty of people who've never tried until grade 12 and magically turned it around in a single year. But I've also seen people who've said "I don't need to try until grade 12" and failed miserably. That said, I would say that the transition for those people who've always put in effort is likely much easier than of those who've never tried and just put it into overdrive for that one year.

I guess this is a fact of life, if you want something you need to go get it.
When you want something alot, you will need to make big sacrifices. When you make big sacrifies, your happiness might be in jepordy... but if you really want what you are looking for, like any happy story, it will have a happy ending.

Willpower is the force of success. It can mean the difference between procrastination or reality.
