I will be a first year UTSG student. I'm wondering Is there rules regarding taking summer courses? such as if you take courses in the summer, they won't count toward your distribution? or med school won't count those marks??? also, I took the French placement test, they put me in FSL331Y and I've decided to take it next summer, so I'm wondering if I should take the test again, I'm worried that at the end of next year, I will forget everything I learned in high school~ if you could give me some suggestions, that'll be great!!! thanks~~~

im not 100% sure about this becasue it depends on different universities. Here is what i know:
-Summer school courses are generally MUCH easier -Summer school course will affect your CGPA (overal GPA) -If your asking about Med school, then you should be careful, as some Med school will appect the 'credits' earned in summer school, BUT when calculating your AGPA (adjusted GPA) they would deduct the summer school's GPA.

Actually UofT2011, could you please tell the requirements for U of T Arts & Science students, or are the ones you listed above the requirements?
Also, you said it will affect your CGPA. So is that a "good" affect in CGPA or bad? Cuz I think it doesn't really matter if we take courses in summer. It's just that some people don't like to clog-up their fall and winter semesters and want to take a course in summer so that they may good in it.
Also, is there a website which discusses the summer school effects for Med-school?
Waiting for your response, thanks.

A lot of medical schools won't count summer courses toward your overall GPA, but they will count them as prerequisites if applicable. If you want to apply to medical school, I would suggest not taking less than 5.0 credits during the fall and winter sessions. For a few schools, you can't use their weighting formula if you take less. I have also heard that they might frown upon your decision to take less than a full course load during the interview unless you do a ton of volunteer work or if there are circumstances beyond your control.
