Should last me 4 years, its the best out there.
I say lightest in absense of that lone processor in a box they call a macbook air. 1 usb (or 2, either way, useless), no disc drive, no graphics, HD is a bit of a problem, small as hell screen.. I can complain forever, its not a laptop. um..... maybe you should check out the LG p300

lilacwine wrote:Dell XPS 1530 Was considering it, but then I got fed up with all the deals the give the US (25% off XPS coupons, 600 dollar off the XPS 1530, WTF?) whereas Canada gets nothing. PLUS, they're still selling the batteries for outrageous prices even though Lenovo and HP (who get their batteries from the same company) have much lower prices. (For those that didn't know, battery prices were up because of a fire in LG Chem, which is one of the largest makers of laptop batteries). Anyways, Dell clearly doesn't like Canada as much as the US so screw them, I'm getting a different laptop. Probably Asus. CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL. UWO BioMed 2012

I currently have an Acer Aspire 5100... it's about a year and a half old and in great condition! Except for the fact that I have scratches on the case from me mishandling it when I first got it. But it's not terrible, just cosmetic... I can deal with that. I expect my unit to keep going for a while.... but if it decides to not work, I might go for something like a Dell. My Mom's friend swears by them, and they're affordable. Or even another Acer, they haven't given me any problems! They're a good company, with numbers to call and addresses to email if you run into trouble. Oh, and I'm going for biology (something like biochemistry or even engineering). I'm going into grade 12 so I still have time. I need to talk to some teachers in September to decide for sure.

Its good, but compared to Asus, I can get much more bang for the buck. If I was in the US, I'd pull the trigger on the XPS 1530 no problem because you can get a really nice laptop for a good price, but no such deals here in Canada so I'm going to wait for Centrino 2 to come out and see whats better. Watch out if you buy a Geforce 8400 or 8600, apparently there are heating issues. I have a 8400, .

What program are u going into? I'm planning on buying either Dell M1330 or one of the Fujitsu Lifebook tablets - haven't decided yet I'll be using mostly Microsoft Office tmhlee wrote:poppy1337 wrote:Apple is giving out a free iPod touch with the purchase of a mac! a new iPod touch is coming out really really soon so it's sort of a lure I suppose? The iPods aren't really free... you have to do a rebate smooshy wrote:Would it be practical to get a macbook if I am going into business? No, it would be better to get windows base laptops unless you plan to dual boot with the macbook for Microsoft office magnolias wrote:Lenovo Thinkpad T61, I'm going into ArtSci. I was looking at ASUS as well since they had decent graphics cards for a stellar price. That was until i saw some reviews like this one in MaximumPC. They reviewed an ASUS F8Sn with a Nvidia 9500m GS 512mb and gave it 5/10. Some of the things they said: -Battery life wont get you through most feature films -Laptop keys are horrible -Reflection from screen can be a bit too much at times I'm gonna be doing poli sci this fall and am looking at a gateway M or T series, Macbook, and Dell 1530. I've heard great things about Lenovo but have also heard they have a horrible screen that reflects too much. I play diablo 2 and would like to play D3 when it comes out.
