When applying for early admission and scholarships and what-not, do universities calculate these using all your grade 11 courses as an average or just certain ones (top 6, just academic, etc). like, do they use electives in the average?

because I have this Intro Spanish course that I took in Grade 10 that turned out to be a Grade 11 course only because our school doesn't offer Spanish 10, and it brings my average down 2%.

Schools give out early offers to people they believe will continue to do well in grade 12. I'm fairly certain that there's nothing out there saying they must send out early admission offers per a particular formula, or only looking at specific courses. And remember - some schools send out lots of very early offers and some send out few to none. I feel reasonably confident in saying that this Spanish mark will not come in to play at many schools (either because they aren't as picky for early offers, or you wouldn't get one anyways), but there could be other schools that based on whatever criteria they use it delays your offer a little bit. But that's mainly at the stage where they are looking entirely at grade 11 performance. Once they've got your first semester/mid-year marks in, it shouldn't really affect things.

With regards to scholarships, most scholarships offered directly by universities seem to be based on grade 12 only, and usually the top 6 average, but some other scholarships may be looking for overall academic achievement.
