During that time, they also take your picture for you Western 1 card, make sure you do that during that time because you'll be waiting in line forever once school starts and you'll need it to buy your food. My word of advice, try to schedule this appointment as earlier as possible because many of the good class times get filled up early on. From what I hear from other students in just general social science, is that MOS is slightly more difficult than just regular social science. But I'm in MOS right now, and I don't think that it's that hard to maintain the 80% and I'm not a genius. You don't have to attend your SAO date. It isn't necessary to choose your courses with a counsellor present. I didn't. The only options you really have are what essay course you want and what math to take. You will probably have a good idea of what essay course to take. It must be either: Women's Studies 1020E, Political Science 1020E, Sociology 1021E, Geography 1300A/B & Geography 1400F/G, or 1 of 6 history courses. Course descriptions are listed at-> http://www.westerncalendar.uwo.ca/2008/pg190.html. So, really, if you know what math you wanted to take, you don't need a counsellor. Besides, if you wait until your SAO date, many sections with "prime times" will already be filled. However, attend your SAO date regardless of whether you have chosen your courses or not. It's fun. And DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT A COUNSELLOR IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS. Cheers I was in Parkin/Gilmore's class, section 2. I remember they used to post the midterm marks at different times during the year. I believe Hammond always posted his earlier though. I'm sure it will be any day now. Cheers

Yes, you can choose a lot of your courses on your own. However, if you are not computer savvy, it might be best to let them do it for you. Plus, you get to get your Western 1 card, which I think is probably the most important thing you do. You need your Western 1 card when you move in because it works as your meal card. They make you use this pink sheet when you don't have your card, and sometimes the caf ladies hassle you for not having one.

Yeah, Hammond used to give us our marks back on the Tuesday after mid terms, I wonder what is taking him so long.

Student.uwo.ca? I've been checking it everyday, it's the last mark I'm waiting for. I was in Hammond's night class, section 003 I believe. Wtf... student centre is nothing for me. I haven't got any of my marks back yet, and my first exam was like a month ago (and it was pure scantron!). EDIT: NVM duckyyy, go to your student centre, click on academic records on the left column, go to "view academic summary," select "web academic report" from the drop box, and bingo. You'd think it would be in the thing that says "Grades" on the first page but apparently not.

i got a letter saying that im in 'second year' as well. Its just a technicality, you still take nearly all (if not all) of the same first year courses just the thing is if you're considered to have completed 3.0 credits then you've completed a year's worth (the minimum amount), so you're in '2nd year'. The thing that sucks is that we cant pick our courses untill AFTER we get our ib grades, which will be quite lite and we might not get the ideal timetable or courses.

I think an aeo economics student have a easier time keeping the 80 avg when compared to a MOS student. this is because Econ students get 3 electives and they are only required to take 1 math and 1 business or something then 3 of w.e they want (all 3 can be bird courses while bmos students get .5 electives)
however for aeo students, i think the only benefit of being in bmos is that it allows you to push yourself to learn more (you must be in BMOS to take alot of management courses eg. bmos 1020), and also they have a career center i think? that gives you summer internship opportunities. can we generalize bmos students are a bit more well equipped for business because of these reasons?
any more insights on this?

Hello-- I am enrolled in a summer macro-econ class (cypress college), and I need (will buy) an access code for the online site “my econlab/course compass.” According to the instructor, there may be other students who are enrolled that will sell me their access code or have taken the class and still have the access code active. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks very much! mdauray@sbcglobal.net
