I cannot think of any career more awful than dentistry. Looking down people's mouths for a living is not my idea of interesting. But I suppose if money is what you are after it would be okay.

Oooh - how about a urologist - that's just as nasty .... Or how about a Dermatologist - who wants to look at facial acne all the time (and then there's the skin cancer....) or you could be a Gynecologist (which if your a guy maybe up your alley.....)

Life isn't about fitting in - it's about standing out !!!

ALL OF YOU ARE RABBBBid ANTI-DENTITES.......and so am I razz

What do you call a doctor that failed Med school? A dentist.

The difference between a Satanist and a dentist? Newer magazines. I loved that episode

ok I'm not planning for dentist but my friend is. I haven't gone to a dentist in like 5 years. Don't have the money too and my teeth are just as fine as they were 5 years ago

Guys, dental school requires dexterity and smarts. I think that dentists are awesome.

I can't imagine many people truly have an interest in teeth enough to dedicate their lives to them. For that reason, I think the majority of dentists are in it for the money.

I'd probably kill myself if I had to stare at TEETH all day long, I don't care how much they're paying me...definitely explains the supposed rise in suicide rates among Dentists

I may have a little biased cause one of my parents is a dentist who actually refused med school to go to dental school. Its a great profession cause you get the satisfaction of of helping others but it most cases you dont have to deal with life threatening illnesses as a doctor might. There are lots of other things that are involved with a career in dentistry other than staring at teeth. Its good for people who have a little artistic side, cause alot of dentistry involves fine hand work and detail. you guys would really be surprised at all the different types of specialties in dentistry. Most ppl dont really realize how important your oral health is to your overall health.

One of my chemistry teacher always reminded us that being a doctor is about looking down various holes. At least when ur a dentist you look down the top rather than the rear hole.

Anyway thats my two cents.

Actually the reason that it is such a stressful job is because so many people have such a negative attitude towards dentists (which can clearly be seen in this thread)

If I was in a medical profession I'd want to do optometry. My optometrist is so laid-back and the job seems so comfortable...Denist's though...well, staring at people's teeth is not how I want to live the rest of my life. Same with Gynecology..seriously, kids make jokes about it but doing that every day forever just seems annoying.

think about it like this too day in day out working on that area would make you board out of your mind, or it just might make you turned on come home and have sex with your wife. or w/e

Rather, I think seeing that constantly would make you turned..."off". Sort of like, "God, if I see one more *insert* I'll go crazy!"

Seriously, if you work with "that" on a medical level constantly it won't turn you on...and if you're with your wife you'll probably find yourself getting all technical instead of being "turned on".
