I took introductory psych my first year at U of A. This is the course description:
PSYCO 104 Basic Psychological Processes Principles and development of perception, motivation, learning, and thinking and their relationship to the psychological functioning of the individual. Fulfillment of the 1/4 laboratory credit typically entails serving as a research participant, but can be fulfilled through the completion of alternative assignments. The course is a prerequisite to all courses in the department and is normally followed by PSYCO 105. I don't know if it will be the same as at Laurier, but perhaps quite similar? I found it very interesting and very easy. With my professor you could get an A without attending the lectures (just read the textbook).

Biggest class at Laurier, probably close to 200 students. It was 8:30am for me so I didn't show up very often, and when I did I was half asleep so it's tough for me to rate. I had a guy called Morgenson who's a super old prof but he's quite interesting. Not a difficult class by any means and it will definitely let you know if you're interested in psychology or not.

Morgenson or bust.
He's the best psych prof. One of the best profs at Laurier.
Im not really sure what you're looking for in terms of opinions. Its an introductory course about psychology. If you think that might be interesting, take it. If not, dont.

As someone who wasn't big on "hard" subjects back in high school and honestly didn't get more than 52% in grade 10 Science and never took it again! I fell in LOVE with psychology! It's really interesting and if you're interested in the study of people and their behaviour - you'll love it. It's an INTRO course so you'll get a nice overview. The section on the brain/neurons is a bit much (it was for me science based I had to study hard) but the rest is awesome. You might find that you really enjoy it and want to take more classes. After Intro there is Intro to Abnormal Psych (learn about Anxiety, Schizophrenia, substance abuse, Bipolar, Multiple Personality Disorder, Depression etc) and that kind of direction.... or you can get into learning more about Infant, Child, Teenage, Adult/Elderly stages of development (not all in one class mind you lol)... Animal behaviour..... I'll be taking a class this year on the paranormal! or get into the real Science part of it like Neuroscience and Perception. I graduated from more Psych and Child Psych In College but Mental Illness and Psychological and Neurological Disorders really interest me. I'm still in my early Uni years of psych so I can't offer any real insight into later Uni psych classes. Take it. !!! I think you'll find it interesting. The first few chapters are kind of boring though! Theory! but you'll need that thoery for every single beg. chapter of almost every psych class you'l ever take! they refer to it ALL THE TIME! LOL! seriously. Glendon/York Universty - Specialization in PsychologyChild and Youth Worker Graduate

I didnt take psych at laurier.. only 200 people that still surprises me..but i really enjoyed the intro courses at my school. The good thing about psych is that people from all programs take it, so its a good way to meet people outside of your program. A lot of the material you learn can be very relatable to your life which makes it easier to understand and study when you have exams

The first year Psych course doesn't generally have any prerequisites. For applying to Psych as a degree - I think under Arts it's just the same as most other Arts programs (e.g. English is the only prereq); under science you might need bio and Math or something (but electronicinfo.ca and/or individual university websites will be more accurate than me!).

Do i have to write essays? 4 exams, but the course is a full credit so it's just like a normal class with one midterm and one final per semester. There are no assignments or anything like that. The exams are all multiple choice and done on a Scantron card.

I heard psychology is really interesting. Of course, it depends on the type of person you are.
