What is the age when you can sign a lease for apartment without a co-signer?

You'll be fine as long as you're in university. The answer is a bit more complicated than that but I doubt you'll run into any problems in that regard.

yeah I think it's 18, if you're younger you need a co-signee (i.e. your parents to guarantee that you will make payments)

There's probably issues below 18 (due to general restrictions on contracts below that age); at the same time, I know some people whose landlords required co-signers for credit reasons when they were over 18. This definitely happened with some of my friends in Nova Scotia; and thinking about it I think it happened with my brother one time in Waterloo.

i moved from a small town to toronto last year as a university student at 27 and i needed my parents to co-sign.
some places just want to make sure that rent is going to be paid.
they don't care how old you are- they hear STUDENT and they get scared.
i've always had a job, but they said if i had lived in toronto prior to moving it wouldn't have been an issue.

i am 17 and if I signed a lease it isn't worth the power to blow it to hell. lol
My brother is well into his 20s with a good job but he never had a lease and my parents had to co sign.
