Do you guys think I can pass Dynamics? I have probably a 36-37% going into the exam, I need a 68-70 to pass the course. I highly DOUBT that I can do it, even with a tutor. I can fail this course, I just have to take it eventually, probably next summer school session. What should I do?

If life were like that, you wouldn't need a Mastercard.

It's "possible" I had a 50% aftter the bell curve in civ101 (our section got belled up because our average was too low) and I studied like a freakin cave man for 3 or 4 days for the exam, got 95% on the exam and my mark went to 72!

Although dynamics is hard.. I'd say just study for a week or 2 weeks or w/e left, there's plenty of time and it's not impossible to get that mark (there will probably be a bell curve too to help you). I mean look at this way, you're wasting half your summer and a $1000 already.. do you really wanna do it again? That should be enough motivation to get you to become a hermit for 2 weeks lol you gotta take it seriously no slacking off

I have to study for ECE, I need 30% to pass the exam but I need a tutor cause I did nothing all semester. I am surprised that I have like 13-14 / 20 for the quiz mark. I'd get a tutor for dynamics, but I have to do basically Chapters 16-22 by myself, less 1 chapter I think. And the guy is probably just going to do exam prep, e.g just going there to get refined. I don't want to take this in summer school, as it ghastly killer and I don't want to take it as an elective 2nd year...

How much % are these exams worth? What brought your mark down so much Taiyab? Tests? Labs? Everything?

Yeah, but I'd have to take it next year, again.

For MIE, it's usually a 40-60 split (20 quizzes, 20 mid-term, 60 exam) but it's different this semester (55 exam, 10 quiz, 25 mid-term, 10 online quiz). For me, the kicker was the online quiz and mid-term, 2/10 and 3.5/10.

Assuming a 50 is a pass, let 'x' be the mark you must attain on the exam in order to pass...

0.45(36) + 0.55x = 50

0.55x = 50 - 16.2

x=61.45

So it looks like you need a 61.5% on the exam to pass ... this is also assuming they don't round to the nearest whole number, in which case you'd need a 60.5% (which would finish you with 49.5%).

Where did the 68-70 percent come from? I'm probably not taking into account weighting factors of things?

Call me superstitious, but I am not going to bank on a 49.5 hahahha. There could be a bell-curve, up or down so you can't predict it down to an exact number though. But thanks, I feel somewhat relieved. Still not banking on anything.

Usually what I try to do is aim for 100. Literally. Prepare yourself like you're going to get 100%, and success will follow. Just study as much as you can. If you don't end up passing, at least you died tryingexclamation

Yeah, you can do that. But once University hits, you can't go all out like you used to do for tests and exams. I remember during a Calculus mid-term in October, I saw a class-mate studying material for another course, 30 minutes before the test. It's hard to find the key to getting a decent mark.

Yeah I believe you. Maybe the true key is time. Lots of preparation before the exam. The best you can do now though is study as much as you can.

Taiyab, other than APS they will most likley never bell down, trust me on that. Especially with dynamics there's I'd say a 70%+ chance of them belling up at least 5%, getting a 62 on the exam isn't impossible. Just study and don't waste your time, wats 2 weeks in relation to anohter year of agony that you'll have dreading about having to take it again
