Ivey: the Harvard Business School of Canada Both Harvard and Ivey are the world leaders in the case method study Harvard is the number one producer of cases in the world with Ivey second Both schools have the most employers come on to campus to recruit out of all other business schools within their respected country. Both are the best business schools in their respected country Both try to develop their students into leaders who can lead in any field Both use Learning teams (teams with 4-5 students who work together to prepare for cases) Harvard and Ivey have the most powerful alumni network the stretches across the globe within their country Ivey: 1 in 4 alumni hold the title of chair, president, CEO, vice president or managing director/partner. For Harvard it is obviously more! Harvard and Ivey are the most prestigious business schools within their respected countries. Queens Commerce: the Wharton school of business of Canada
Both Queens and are Wharton are known to be the most quantitative focused As well have a huge concentration in finance (Note: 40% of Wharton grads go into finance as well queens sends a comparable portion) Both would be considered the second best business school in their country Does anybody agree with these comparisons? I just found it interesting how similar these intuitions were. Which school would you compare schulich to?

good point made but it is hard to compare and criticize schools that are both very good. I'd argue that Wharton might be an even better biz school than Harvard. Harvard doesn't offer undergrad business so of course WHarton is better, but in terms of an mba the harvard name might give it a slight advantage over wharton.
an please don;t turn this into another ivey vs. queens thread...there is enough already

He is comparing Queen's Commerce and Ivey's teaching methods and student development strategies with those of Ivy league schools in the U.S. I agree with his comparisons. (Wharton is actually an Advisory school for Queens I believe, or something like that)

I'm guessing this'll turn into another 50 page mine-is-bigger battle. And I thought Wharton was #1 in the World, not Harvard...

The comparisons are quite the joke. On the international scene, neither Ivey nor Queens Commerce can remotely compare to Harvard and Wharton in reputation and post-graduate job opportunities. Harvard and Wharton are just on another level.

lauryn, if you had read my post clearly, you would have seen that i had written "within their respected countries" which means compared to the rest of the business schools in their country. Obviously, Ivey and Queens cannot touch Harvard or Wharton on a global scale and i was not even talking about the international scene as you describe. I was merely just stating the similarities and how these schools are viewed within their respected country.

I would have to agree with Lauryn. Although I did note you said "respected country", you have to remember that many of the top business leaders in Canada are graduates from Harvard and Wharton. So, comparing the two sets of schools (American and Canadian) does not seem correct because they are not mutually exclusive. Graduates from university (especially in business) tend to travel the world so comparing universities without regard to "another level" is just pointless.
Also, regarding Ivey and Harvard, Harvard University is one of the most respected leaders in any discipline in the world. Virtually any degree from Harvard (whether in psycology to sciences to math) guarantees a top employable spot in the field. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Ivey.

I COMPLETELY disagree with you. You cannot put Ivey and Queen's in the same boat as Harvard or Wharton. Yes Wharton is the best business school in the world. And in my opinion Schulich is the best business school in Canada; yes mostly because of its reputation (especially its international reputation). People don't know about Queen's commerce or Ivey in this part of the world (middle east). Schulich, however, is a totally different story. People talk about Schulich here like it's Stern (actually it kinda is like the Canadian version of Stern). I would compare Ivey to Babson and Queen's to Kellogg. Canadian B-Schools are comparable to the likes of Haas (Berkeley), McCombs (Austin) and Tepper (Carnegie Mellon).

Irrelevant,
There are no sources for that (as far as I'm aware lol). Just the OP's personal opinions... let it slide. No need to argue about the best business school again for the thousandth time. We all know it just ends up nowhere, and the arguments don't really make much sense when there is debate about it.

Everybody keeps posting those videos but I really don't see the entertainment value.
Interesting comparison but defiantly a huge gap between the Ivy's and the Canadian schools... especially in terms of reputation.
