What can u do with that degree? How is the job opportunity? I love english and the arts (history, philosophy, etc.) as they are my favorite subjects.. But i have to end up going into life science or biomedical science because those programs have higher job opportunities -.-... Unless you've graduated from that school and had that degree and found there are no job opportunities - don't judge. Perhaps you're right and there are fewer job opportunities for English majors, but saying "What can you do with that degree?" is just plain disrespectful. Each to his own, and butt out of other people's said "own."

With an Arts degree the career choice might be less obvious as perhaps engineering or medicine, but there's a hell of a lot you can do with it.

Arts majors have it soo bad! LOL the world is too cruel. I’m not in Arts, but I sure understand their pain. Why do you have to prove that you’re smart enough to be in university just because of the program you’re in?? Wow, what a way to crush your self-esteem. I give up =/

I was rejected at my first choice (Princeton) when i had applied for college back in 2003. This time around, i was accepted to both my first choice (Columbia) and Queen's but chose Queen's for financial reasons. seamoraine wrote: Why do you have to prove that you’re smart enough to be in university just because of the program you’re in??
It's true, as an arts major I continually am asked to prove my worth to others...

I only applied to U of A and U of C (my mom wouldn't let me apply anywhere else for some stupid reason, I guess she didn't want me too far away). U of A was my first choice, both accepted me and both gave me lots of money in scholarships. I ultimately chose U of A
