Guess who screwed up in grade 11? I did.

I'm just finishing up grade 11 this year and theres a chance I could end up failing Physics. OK. I'm already failing physics. But, only by about 4/5%. If I pass the exam, I pass Physics for the most part. My Biology 12 mark is sitting at a 56% which isn't great, but I will probably end up passing it. Well, I hope so anyways. The thing is, if I fail Physics, that chalks up another failed class for grade 11. I failed Chemistry 11 last semester.

I'm planning on going into arts for Psychology after I graduate. Will two failed courses effect my ability to get in?

There is no Summer school at my school.

If you're in Ontario it's just top 6. Actually, in any province, its always only top something marks. As long you don't fail a lot your courses or as long as the courses you failed aren't a prerequisite, it doesn't matter.

Failed grade 11 courses will not impact on whether or not you get in unless you don't have enough credits to graduate (or are missing a specific requirement to graduate), can't take a needed grade 12 course because of it, or they want that particular grade 11 class (not overly common).

Oh my, they're grade 11 courses! Sorry, here I was thinking it was grade 12...yeah everything that Kaylya said XD Disregard my last post.

The only thing grade 11 courses are good for is early admission. Oh, and if you are applying to US schools, they will look at past grade history.

I don't know how to word this.. If you can't pass a grade 11 course you won't do well in university. High school stuff isn't overly hard, it's about doing some studying and time management. Everyone should be able to get 60's in courses. You need to look at your work habits.

quoted for truth... i highly recommend finding some tutors because i had a friend who didnt have a 60 in gr 12 and he has to come back for a year.. the rest of us are all moving on and he's gonna be a year behind (i have a 90 razz maybe i shoulda donated some of my marks to him)

i'd also like to add that university isnt the be all and end all... if you're not getting a practical university degree only because its the only program you can get into, you're better off going to college and getting a diploma you can actually use for something... unlike an arts history major or something stupid like that where $80 000 later.. you have nothing to show...

So true, I have a lot of friends who aren't all like academic all stars but alright students with a huge strength in a certain area, and they decide to go to college for diploma or certificates, and tech institutes so that they are really specialized and can get a good job right out of training. If you are struggling in grade 11 university might not be the way to go.

One of my grade twelve classes will be a low mark. That being Biology 12. I am only struggling with two classes for the most part. Every other class I am in I have 80's in. Physics and number-happy classes have never and probably never will be my forte.

The grade twelve classes that I am in next year can and probably will end up making my average 80/85%. Mainly because they're mostly classes that I find interesting and I excel in. The main problem with grade eleven is that you're kind-of forced into classes that you're generally not great at and thus, a few marks may not be the greatest.

No one is perfect, just because I made a low mark in a grade 11 class or two doesn't mean that I will completely fail in university. I know tonnes of people who absolutely made horrible marks all throughout school and some how made it into university and are doing better than they have ever done in school.

I always study, do homework, do assignments/projects/never skip class, ever. I'm also not just planning to go to university to get an "easy degree that I won't be able to show for" believe it or not, but not everyone wants to get into Health Science/EngSci/Business.

A lot of people who did mediocre in high school excel in university for a lot of reasons. First of all you're paying a lot of money for it! Plus you are in a program that you enjoy and you get to choose classes that you are interested in. If you like the course you are way more likely to do well.

If you want to get into an Arts Psych program, you should probably drop all those science courses. Take some easier gr12 classes like family studies or something.

Oh, believe me. I am. I'm only taking one Science next year. That's Food Science 12. I heard it's freakishly dull and easy and academic. Haha. The rest are social sciences like sociology/health & Human services/etc.
