Hey guys, my favourite music of all time is classic rock... and I am trying to get a really great selection of well know classic-rock-ish songs for a party on Saturday so I was wondering if you could post your favourites?

I am looking for classic rock but also bands like Sly & the Family Stone, Commodores and Aretha Franklin. I also am going to use the Tragically Hip and Blue Rodeo.

Good examples of really well known songs:
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
The Eagles - Hotel California
Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl

Lesser known that I am using:
Michael Jackson - P.Y.T.
Rush - In The Mood
Max Webster - Patio Lanterns

Anyway I know most of you guys like crappy music (hahaha) but thought I'd give it a shot.

Summer-y, 20th birthday party but I am having it joint w/ my mom's best friend and it is also a house warming for their new apartment. Age range, from about 15 to 60 years old. My mom's friends are hippy-stoners who like good classic rock music. There will be dancing after we all get drunk.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven (maybe too cliche?)
The Beatles- Let it Be
Eric Clapton - Layla
The Animals - House of the Rising Sun

It might just be me, but a lot of CCR (e.g. Down on the Corner, Bad Moon Rising, Fortunate Son) seems like great summertime classic rock.

For some classic hippy songs, play White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane or The Age of Aquarius by the Fifth Dimension.

It occurred to me that flipping through related videos on YouTube might also help you find stuff.

Oh, and not exactly classic rock, but Bob Marley might fit in.

How many times do you hear Patio Lanterns on that station?

Every other song.
No but seriously they play a ridiculous amount of Max Webster. My favourite is Patio Lanterns though, my dad gets pissed when they play them but I take it in stride.

Break on Through - The Doors
Wayward Son - Kansas

Some mellower tunes....
Dream on - Aerosmith
Wild World, Peace Train - Cat Stevens

lol, these are just a few. How far back are you looking to go? I can recommend some funk and disco too if you want.

Decent.

Too bad you won't be able to hear them, will complain about the stupid teenagers in the mosh pit, the only drugs you'll take during the concert will be painkillers for your bad back and maybe some Caltrate to fend off osteoporosis... it's a real wall when you hit 20. And it's only downhill from there.
