I literally have nowhere else to go so I need help people. I've been offered two amazingly awesome internships:
1- World Health Organisation in DC. Part- time. Unpaid. I have family and won't need to pay for rent/associate expenses. (This is usually offered to grad students and I'm a 2nd yr undergrad!) -Environmental Health & Sustainable Development. -Developing regional policies for Latin America
2- Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in Ottawa. Full- time paid. Will need to get an apartment and all that good stuff. (Tough to get a job with them in general, not an internship, but a paid actual job with them) -Policy and Accountability in Afghanistan
I don't know what to do! Please help. I have 2 days to decide. If you were an employer, which looks better on a resume? I've evaluated that everything else compared, these are pretty similar. I just need to choose and I don't know what to do! eek!

I would say CIDA because you're getting paid, and can make some contacts in there. That could lead you to some good jobs in Ottawa once you graduate. If you're looking at going to work abroad after you graduate, go with WHO since you can make some global contacts.

Definately CIDA. Unpaid, no matter how good it is, is just a different level on a resume. If they're paying you, you're good, in the eyes of someone reading it on ur resume.

They are both great opportunities that would look awesome on a resume. If you would like to work full time for one of those agencies in particular, then doing the internship with that agency would be the best choice. If you would like to work full time in Washington the WHO position might be better (as the people you meet there are likely to know people at other agencies in Washington). But don't get caught up in going with the WHO because it's more international or something like that for the general appearance on a resume. The contacts you can make at either position may help you later, but it's now like someone wouldn't hire you because you chose CIDA over WHO for your internship. They both look great. One question - how much does CIDA pay, vs. how much you will be spending on rent in Ottawa (a quick glance at Craigslist shows summer sublets available for $400 and less, assuming this is something that starts soon)? How much do you need money? Most students need money, and it's not like it's working for the WHO for free vs. making money at McDonalds. And unless CIDA is paying a very small stipend (which it doesn't sound like), even if they are paying minimum wage you'd be making more than a little bit of money after paying your rent.

Wow, those are amazing options! Just out of curiosity - did you have a connect at these places, someone who helped you get an internship, or did you just apply and they hired you?
