don't ask why i'm up at 3 am lol...umm i havn't seen anyone els saying they had "your file is complete" and when i looked at the asq site there was no such thing. I have "your application is complete". you should call and ask or wait till the end of the week and see what happens.

My status was "Your application is complete" for the longest time... then it changed to "Your file is complete." I know they don't have it in the descriptions... they've got all sorts of weird statuses. Hopefully it's something good though. *crosses fingers. runs and prays*

yah I hope it is too but who knows what it really means. I tried calling them and asking what it really meant "your app is complete" and they wouldn't give me a straight answer. but i wish you luck smile

well to be perfectly honest at the beginning i was leaning more towards mcgill mostly because of its foreign reputation as i dont intend on staying in canada in the later stages of my professional career

But at the moment im leaning towards Ivey mostly due to its social scene
Whats good at queens ? I havent heard much about kingston

dewd high five. i am torn between queens, mcgill and schulich.
and same here, i do not plan to stay in canada.. at least in a long run.

regarding ivey, london is as boring as other small towns. the only thing that attracts me is their social scene and kinda.. acedamic excellence. hands down.
some people referred to the risk of getting into ivey in your 3rd year, i'd day as u are able to make it into western business, u're able to get into ivey (if you get laid back and party all week.. that's another story) anyhow. i don't think ivey is as good. personally i think their 2+2 is a bit dry, but that's up to how u feel about it. i am also not sure whether or not you can do a double major or double degree some sort like that, maybe you shall tell me concerning that lol

as for queens, I like the antique look of the campus. their bcom programme is as prestigious as queens university itself. in addition, queens is known for its exclusiveness... which to me, is a good thing. kingston is also a typical small town, but life in uni is enuf for you to spend your fun time (as i have almost never heard anyone from queens complaining their own university, not to mention regretting going to queens). for longer breaks, queens is 2 hours away from ottawa, montreal and toronto. sounds like a good deal to me. you can also pursue a double degree/double major. sounds nice eh?

schulich is hot and shiny. the only thing that hold me back is York University, as well as its reputation internationally. also you cannot graduate with a double degree. your resume will probably be sth like i/BBA, ssb, york u, field you specialize in.

mcgill... their business program really doesn't look good. but who knows? maybe it's gonna rise all the way back up to 36 in the world, just like how it did 4 years ago. but doing a double major in marketing and psychology under the title B.Com look good. and i believe internationally company will like u

my opinion.
feel free to give some response

Dude that was insanely helpful !
Thanks a bunch

I think im going to go to ivey, although i agree the 2+2 is a bit dry,it seems like the best overall option
If you go there drop me a word
Peace

A quick question...do you need Gr. 12 Economics in your top six to be considered for the Queens program?

If so...is it more important to have the highest avg possible without it along with great EC?

Gr. 11 speaking here...big grin

no, it doesn't.
Generally speaking, most of my friends got 95s in economics so i would suggest you to take it. But do talk to current grade 12 students at your school and ask them for their suggestion.

So if someone takes Economics but doesn't include in their top six for whatever reason (you still have the know how), you're not at any disadvantage? Any ideas if Queens could reject someone on that bases?

You definately DON'T need economics...i'm sure it's a bonus to have because it'll help you with the material but it's not mandatory. I didn't have it and I got in fairly early. If you're in Gr11 you should start focusing on your EC's make sure you have some leadership stuff in there.

Yep, you definitely don't need it. I got in without having Econ, and my school didn't offer that course, anyway.

Really? Wow...I thought they need at least one business course in someone's top six. That's helpful I guess big grin

Really hoping you guys make it in coming few weeks since no one should be forced to wait in suspense bounce while being helpful!

is anyone's status still DECISION PENDING? or has everyone's changed to APPLICATION COMPLETE?
i'm very curious as to what the difference is. why must they be so vague?

btw, does anyone happen to know about the rumour that Queen's Commerce is favoured towards Caucasians? because i have heard that, and it seems like it is true. my asian friends, along with me, who have mid 90's avgs with relatively good EC's have not been accepted, whereas my.. caucasian friends, who have low 90's avgs with a bit stronger EC's have been.

i guess maybe it all comes down to the fact that caucasians are better leaders in their EC's... hmm. but if i dont get accepted, it will just make me feel better thinking i didnt get in cus... i'm asian 8-)... jokes... kinda.

hope no1 was offended by my use of the race card.

erm
I thought Queens was trying to proactively search for different groups of people to fill a certain % of acceptances.
Is that just as similar to affirmative action? I haven't the slightest idea but other people must know their policies...compress

No, Queen's doesnt favour towards caucasions or anything like that. I'm Asian myself too razz. If you'd like statistics on that, check out the Queen's Applicant Equity Census. The link is available: http://www.queensu.ca/irp/pdfiles/misc/Final%20Equity%20Results%20Mar%2026%202008.pdf. This is official data taken by the Equity Office - http://www.queensu.ca/equity/content.php?page=ApplicantCensus. You may have received a survey from them at one stage.

As you will see, the number of applicants for visible minorities (domestic) who APPLIED are at in the range of between 32.8% to 34.3%, whereas the visible minorities who was OFFERED admissions is in the 31.8% to 33.6% - this is for the university in general. The difference is minor and insignificant, and presents a fair process in general.

mine application just changed from "application is complete" to "pending decision" but thats probably because there was a mistake with my mark.. MHF was 75 (cutoff for math was 80) and now its a 82..

Ive heard that once you reach the 87 average cutoff, only your PSE matters, can anyone verify this. Because i only have a 87.2 average but very good ecs. and im doing the ib program if that helps

ohh decision pending is much better than application complete.. cause if it is says application complete for more than a week, and you haven't got accepted, then most likely you got rejected.. so be happy with decision pending, cause it means you still have hope.

ps. i know this because mine was application is complete for the longest time because i didn't have the 87 average, but then when my marks updated and i actually had an 87 average, it changed to decision pending

Funny you should mention that! Because at my school it's the exact same situation. I don't know one Asian that has gotten into Queens Commerce at my school, so far. Whereas numerous Caucasians have gotten in, myself included scratch

Maybe just a coincidence
