I live in McConnell. BMH is just overpriced for what your getting, your paying for friendships pretty much. And to e honest, aside from the people im living with next year, and a few buddy's in the building who happen to be in my department, ill never see some of these people again, aside from the random encounters where we'll talk and reminisce about some of the funny nonsense that went down here. So in the end I dont know what to say, choose a MORE house and pray you get matched with cool people. Lol thanks for the advice. Yesss. MORE Houses looking pretty good so far... though I'd have to get a meal plan. Juiced, do you know anything about/ anyone in Dio&Prez Rez? I was and will be in Diocesan and I can vouch for it. It's a bit quiet, but proximity trumps prolixity any day. Pres has small rooms though. As in, BMH-sized. Eww.

mcgillguy88 wrote:PS. I think it's a bit silly to choose a university based on how exciting the town is. Would you really visit Oxfordshire? I disagree. If you're 18 and you're going to live somewhere for 4/5 years, you better like where you're living. Of course Oxbridge is an exception but if you can't see yourself enjoying life somewhere, then why live there? Story: I was accepted to Waterloo Mechatronics, went to visit, but didn't even get out of the car. Driving through town, and on to campus, I knew in my stomach that I would not be happy going to school there. I'm heading into U1 Mech Eng. at McGill, I don't like clubbing, but I love Montreal. The city is so much more than clubs, bars, booze, and nightlife. The music scene is incredible, there's tons of museums, landmarks, festivals... culture. What stunned me most was the diversity, of the city and of the university. Regarding rez, I lived in Molson Hall this year, and I'm proud to say we earned our reputation. It was a nice, one year break, and now I'm ready to get down to work. I'm living in a MORE house next year due to a clause in my scholarship, but all of my friends have moved out. Don't worry about residence after first year. One tip: if living in Upper Rez, do not return to rez in between classes. It is a much better use of your time to stay on campus, head to the library, or head downtown. Finally, I vote for living near St. Laurent. Crescent & Bishop are (American) tourist packed, while St. Laurent is more the McGill crowd. I don't think either give you the true 'flavour or montreal' though. But seriously, does Crescent have 2$ chow mein? Case closed.

So how'd you find living in Molson affected your marks? How late would you recommend to schedule classes?
And just could you expand on how it was living in Molson/Upper Rez? Molson's my number 1 choice but I am fairly worried about having my marks drop a lot.

Or at least that is what they write on their hall t-shirts. Seriously, though, if you are serious about your work and need silence, you can have it most of the time. Do expect late-night disturbances and at least a few jerks on your floor, but more people are considerate and respectful than otherwise. Upper Res, as a map will show, is far. It's a 20 min walk after you get used to it. Choose wisely.

Yeah, the distance thing is going to be a pain (espcially going up the hill in winter) but I want to live in Upper Rez, and the walk will be decent exercise/wake up routine.

He's hilarious.

But yeah thanks You may be thinking of either RateMyProfessors.com, or Mercury. The latter is McGill's own semester-end evaluation system.
