I got accepted to McMaster's Life science and Queen's life science. My family wants me to go to Queen's , and I kinda want to go to McMaster. Any suggestions please? Pros and Cons, I just can't decide..

^that's univforum btw, the "Lakehead" of university message boards. teeC wrote:I got accepted to McMaster's Life science and Queen's life science. Both good programs with good standards and a nice school environment. My only suggestion is to visit both campuses and decide which one you want to spend 4 years at, because that's the best tiebreaker. Don't go somewhere because your parents want you to.

What if I'm thinking about entering med school? Which one would be a better choice to choose, ie. programs, difficulty, professors, etc.

My impression was that mac was more for sciences (particularly Health Sci) and Queens was for arts and, most notably, commerce.

in my opinion they both have very fine med programs/pre-med (biochem/life sci/whatever you want to start off in).
queen's life sci is fairly competitive, but so is mac's. um, in terms of first year material, i had friends in both (interestingly they both chose to switch into nursing LOL) who were curious and did a direct comparison, and the one at queen's had the more challenging physics/bio classes. after first year, i'm sure they get more similar. of course the sample size is REALLY small in that study haha. I'd honestly suggest going to whichever school with the environment that you'll learn better in/you feel comfortable in.
