I'll probably end up at UofT next yr. I've heard many stories where people lived in rez for first year, just for fun and then moved back home after. However, to my impression its mostly the engineering students who do this?

If I decide to pick TrackOne rather than Life sci, I'll definitely live in rez for first yr (New), as I've heard it's quite fun. But I'm hesitating about whether to do so if I go for life sci (Trin). Do non-engineering students do this?? Is there a point of me doing this if I'm in life sci?

I need your inputs. Thanks in advance.

Why would engineering students but not other students do this? I don't see how that makes a difference?

I honestly don't know...haha

Its just that from the fun experiences I've heard, they mostly came from engineering students.

There is definitely a point. If you can get to live in rez first year, go for it, the experience will be something you remember for life, plus you meet so many more people as opposed to a commuter student. I have friends who commute and friends who live on rez at UofT and Ryerson, and they both say that if you can live on rez you should. The commuters say that the accessibility to get to the library and spend extra time getting help is something they miss out by commuting, and those who live on rez say that the friends you make there you get really close with. One of my friends who lived on rez at UofT this year, is moving into an apartment with four other guys he became friends with at rez.

A lot of people say that U of T is lonely when you don't live in rez and that its really hard to meet people.

It's tough 'cause, if you live in Toronto, it almost makes no sense to live on res because it's like 8 grand.

If you go into engineering it should be fine because you'll easily be able to pay it off through summer co-op or PEY or even when you graduate as you'll be making enough money.

If money is not that much of a concern, then there's no reason for you not to!

I live in North York but I still live downtown and probably will live downtown throughout my 4 years. I'm taking loans but it's worth it, I'll be able to pay it off within a year after graduating.

ive had many freinds do this at UofT many non-eng students. its quite common and personally i would recommend it. because u will meet people and people u will be friends with for years. especially if many of ur friends are moving away for uni

I'm going to rez for my first year as well, and I live in Tdot. My mom and sister suggested it, after I got my acceptance. Should be great for networking and meeting new people, hope to see you there!

I'm doin the same thing to. I live in the GTA and but still plan on living on rez 1st manly just for the experience, and after 2 years of commuting to college, which sucked. I would like the experince of rez. Whatever program ur in shouldn't matter, if you want to go for it! It's not like you'll regret it.

If i lived closer to the college I'm going to i wouldn't be living in the dorm, mainly because it's so expensive and
i think you can still have a college experience without having to live in rez. But that's just me i understand that some people
want to live in rez because they can.
