AMEN kraftdinna! I feel the same way. I feel like these young kids have cured cancer while songwriting for the blind.

I'm all about the extra curricular as well but sometimes I just can't deal with these previous winners who surely won a Pultizer prize at the age of 3.

So studentawards actually helped you financially? i havent applied to any scholarships yet from this site because i dont seem to find one that fits me. for example, there are lots that require an essay about a topic. do i have to know about that topic in depth? if its about environment..do i have to be interested in that area professionally to write that essay? i don't know, so end up finding very little scholarships that i relate to. frown

I guess it's just about how much time and effort you're willing to put into it. If you don't try you don't have any chance at all.

I always look at other scholarships and see the previous applicants and their reasons for winning, and then never apply for them because it seems that the winners are all superheros when it comes to extracurriculars/volunteer work/academics/etc haha so I feel I can never match up. I'm glad there are other people looking out for those who are about average; I think this contest is great.

I know what you mean! I swear I've done that for at least three different scholarships! I heard of this girl in my school and she has and entire 3 inch binder filled with all of her volunteer work... It's kinda scary really. This contest is an awesome idea.cheers

scholarships take up a lot of time, it's almost like having another class, so this is a great opportunity

There are so many scholarships for leadership. I don't find that most places want both extracurriculars and community service. Has anybody heard back from the scholarships they've applied to?

Ya, I got a response from the EB Publishing Essay contest. I was excited. I didnt get it, but I got published in their scholarship book that they have for the contest entries, which is pretty cool. Not as cool as gett a couple thousand dollars, but awesome nonetheless. I never thought that sifting through scholarships was so difficult ...

I totally agree!! You always see this huge mother of an application form and at the end it's like.. ohh by the way, write a 3000 word essay on why you deserve this award.

i wish there was enough for more people as those universities love sucking the money out of us... =(

I love how you don't have to write a 3000 word essay to enter this contest.
